Poll : What is your reason for going Electric ?

Tax credit. I bought my first LEAF as a total geek out. I signed up on April 20. Twice after thinking that California would get them first. Argued with Nissan and shipped my LEAF to Colorado. I had 5000 miles on mine before you could even order one with a Colorado address :) traded my 11 in for...

How much mileage are you getting in this cold weather ?

I'm in the Denver area and I've been getting between 2.4 and 2.7 mKwh. The temps have been in the single digits F on my way to work and merely cold on the way home. I commute 26 miles to work. 10 miles at 82mph, 15 miles at 70 mph. 1-2 miles surface speeds. I charge to 80% at home and work...

    Charging infrastructure is not growing

Ouch. Funny thing, if there was any market penetration of EV's, any infrastructure short of "ubiquitous" will be unreliable. You need range excess. Period. When you drive a Tesla with a real 250 mile range, you won't be afraid to drive across the metroplex. With 27,000 miles and counting, I will...

Newbie, contemplating a Leaf, have ownership questions.

As I close in on 30K, the questions should actually be. Do you want to stick with old, tired, jerky, slow, noisy, get to a gas station again (seriously? you pay what? Don't forget your lottery ticket) technology? I own several cars. And a diesel truck. I get cranky every time I buy gas and a two...

If Nissan offered to buy back your degraded Leaf, would you?

I'm in Denver and it has been hot this summer. Not Arizona hot, but near 100 since the end of May. I typically charge to 80% twice a day and the heat has a real impact on what that gets you. All in all, if Nissan gets the battery factories up and running, a battery modules swap may cost like a...

If Nissan offered to buy back your degraded Leaf, would you?

At 23K and driving, I would have to say my LEAF has been the best car I've ever owned. I'm not worried about the battery yet. Once Nissan gets the new factories up and running, this whole issue may disappear. Yeah, I could use more range. The whole crying over infrastructure is just stupid. If...

The Nissan Leaf is the best car I've ever owned

:D . 12 months 22,000 miles. I ran about 20 miles with my cruise set on 87 mph this morning with a couple of shots into the 90 mph range to hold my place in traffic before settling in for the slower 70 mph section of my commute. I was thinking about my battery temp at 6 bars and all that noise...

NYTimes would do a Ford Focus

I would pay for more battery modules. I would pay for the 6.6 charger. I don't even care about the price, I just want the option. I would not wait for the option. When you figure the savings. Do you count the $7,500 fed tax credit? I also got a $6,000 state tax credit. What about the $760 it...

    need un biased opinion

2.3-2.8 m/kWh wind, temp, grade variable. I've done that drive with the cruise set on 92 (temp was 15 F w/ heat blasting) and the draw gets into the 2 miles per range. I've also run up Berthoud Pass from Winter Park, CO and drained half the battery in 10 miles. That's about 1 mile/kWh. Passed a...

    need un biased opinion

My commute is 53 miles RT and it's all highway. I get on the expressway, set the cruise on 82 for the first 12 miles and then ease back to 65 or 70 and flow in... Simple solution.. Phil's EVupgrade, a dryer plug installed by an electrician ($150 dollar) at work and an extension cord with the...

$150 million in EV tax breaks

Nice. Add 6000 state and you will find my nice little $13,500 refund. Not bad. It's about time a few of my "TAX" dollars went to something important to me. 16,000 miles in 9 months and I'm probably saving money (oh wait, I created a job with that money, but that's another story). Forget the...

Prejudice and Range: A Michiganders dilema

I don't think 120V can serve up 1.5kWh. You overcharge the boy... Get that Leaf ordered. Oh wait, there is this issue with the carwings ok button...

Removing the Carwings OK. Somebody? Anybody? Nissan?

Anger? I paid 35K for this thing and I have one little software issue that nags me EVERY DAY and Nissan just takes a pass? It can't be harder to change than the open door chime. Seriously, I've become a troll on this thing. I talk this car up to anyone who will listen and then point this thing...

Removing the Carwings OK. Somebody? Anybody? Nissan?

It's becoming a Grind Point. After 13000 miles and 8 months... it looks like I'm closing in on having pushed this thing 2000 times. What do I have to do to remove this from the start up routine. I like carwings. I like the car. This think makes me angry.

Sudden70% Range Drop – Battery Module Failure?

grabbing popcorn.... What's up after the full charge attempt?

Range- 100 mile versus 200 mile

I NEED more range. Occasionally. Infrastructure will solve that issue. I would have bought a Tesla S instead of a Leaf if it was currently available. I don't even have any interest in a smaller EV. My leaf rocks. Thanks Nissan. 6000 miles and counting.

I plan to bring mine. Silver SL.

    2nd LEAF in Colorado?

I've had mine since July. As far as it feeling like a "regular car". That is soooo not true. After you live with one for a bit. Drive your old car and try that thought again. Look for it in Wheat Ridge. Weekdays. Somewhere along Wads.....

    Punishment for my sins

I saw 0% last night after driving from Denver to Winter Park, CO. Over Berthoud pass at 11,300 ft. I was down to one bar and 3 miles at the top. I coasted/regen into town and got into Fraser with 8 miles and one bar still showing (17 miles). After that easy coast into town and a re charge, I was...

    What experiments for today?

Yes. 82mph. In Colorado, if you can't muster 80, you better just stay on the porch... No worries though. I'll post it after they sell me a car... Sigh.... 4-7 months.... Maybe they will still make that schedule. I'm not real optimistic.
