Brand New Leaf (2012 SL) from Carmax for only $26K?

A quick search shows they have 4 for sale, http://www.carmax.com/enus/search-results/default.html?ANa=68&N=4294966976+4294961840&Ne=4&D=90&zip=92130&pD=0&pI=0&pT=400&pC=200&pB=0&No=0&Ep=search:findcar:home&Rp=R&PP=20&sV=List&CD=662+14+966+240+190+398+9&Q=a25dc578-2720-4105-8d00-ba8fabf8663b"...

Nissan LEAF Update from Andy Palmer

You forgot one point. All of those future Leaf owners will not be new cars. There will be used cars on the market that will be giving a bad reputation to the new car market, it's a cycle. This is why cars such as Camry is such a good seller, used ones are reliable and keep on running. The...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Agreed. Now that they can claim a real warranty, why would they buy them back? This renders the terms gradual (or rapid, the exact term I used in defense for my arbitration) moot. The warranty will kick in at 70%, so even in my instance of a 22% loss in a year means that if I were to lose...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

My point exactly. Only some of those on MNL are talking (wishing really) about a remedy, not Nissan. As with American car makers, the usual remedy is cash back to solve a "problem". Nothing was forthcoming, nothing has been forthcoming and nothing will be forthcoming concerning battery warranty.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Found it, this is what OrientExpress is talking about, http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1081280_nissan-offers-almost-10k-cash-back-on-leaf-electric-cars?fbfanpage" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Just more money off instead of admitting there is a problem.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Exactly. If they have a plan, that means they are willing to admit to some sort of defect, something that big corporations don't do. If they are going to admit to having a defect, why the delay? Just as many here are hopefully waiting for a "fix" from Nissan, is Nissan waiting for something...

I doubt it! Also interesting that you say many, not all.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Did either you or Volusiano file a BBB Lemon Law complaint? It doesn't sound like it and if not, you must and when you do there will be time frames that you and Nissan will have to meet (neither you or Nissan will be able to drag it out). Nissan has no official stance on supposed/imaginary...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Thanks and I agree about warranty. I don't however, think Nissan is any different than any other large corporation and don't hold any singular grudge (just an overwhelmeing large grudge to all corporations and their noblesse oblige attitudes).

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

The fact that they will or might warrantee the battery is a good step but, not worth it if the batteryis just going to degrade over and over in hot climates.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Just had my Leaf bought back by Nissan yesterday. All of the fighting was worth it. They caved even before the BBB came back with a ruling on the appeal of my denial (I do believe that my 40 page appeal with overwhelming evidence that makes it look like Nissan is trying to cover something up...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Not sure where your getting this info, you make it sound like it just an option to check off on a peice of paper. Nissan is being forced to buy back the car and has done so in only a very few instances. They aren't willingly offering it at all.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Finishing up my second appeal letter to BBB for my appealable denial due to "non jurisdiction" just so I can get to arbitration and the more I write, the madder  I get. The bunk that Nissan is spewing in letters to the BBB is amazing, citing things like the "battery capacity loss is...

2011, 2012 Nissan Leaf Leasing Information

Tony, you are a paragon and an inspiration to us all but I have a couple of questions.... Are you insane? The people who drive the 15 frwy are ususally blowing the doors off of slow drivers! You weren't ahead of one of those trucks that say "wide load" were you? Doable as the 60 wouldn't be...

Andy Palmer and Chelsea Sexton Discuss the Nissan LEAF

As an ordinary person, I am not a geek, wonk, scientist and as my wife would say "not brilliant in any way", I have one observation. When we purchased the Leaf, we were told (and the manual backs this up) that 73 miles would be the avg. distance in D, the default driving setting. But, we could...

Nissan says I can't buy a new battery pack even if I want to

The real catch-22. One can't buy a battery pack, it has to be replaced under warranty and they don't warranty the battery.

    October 2012 Leaf Deals

Welcome to the Legion of the Leaf. Torre has always been good. Good thing you leased (hopefully for 36 and not 39). As you picked up your car this time of year, you should (but I hope not) have your first loss of battery capacity around next Aug and the second bar loss in late Oct. (if you...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

You're right, went back and looked at the stats and Palm Springs has had 128 days of 100F or higher this year so far. Hard to top our temps. Porobably why I lost 2 bars so soon and at such a low mileage compared to AZ.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Hey, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! There are those of us who live outside of Phoenix and are having the same issues and agree with you but, they need to have 1 person handle the hot weather areas. It wouldn't be hard for Nissan to look at a map and say that a Leaf owner lives in...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

It's an old car dealer trick (in this case manufacturer). The longer they make you wait, the less you are willing to accept in return. Stick to your guns.
