there are plenty more volts than leafs around. I think the volt number is around 150ish, so you would definetly see more volts as their numbers are 50% more than the leafs. The central counties have a larger number of volts in comparison to leafs, so driving in those areas you would most likely come by them. In midlothian we have 3 leafs and 1 volt that I know of (I know, its freaky! why are most of ellis counties plug-ins here I don't know), so I am starting to see them more frequently in my small town. On in particular is owned by an employee at the walgreens I frequent so I get to see this one all the time now (has paper plates still).

If anyone is interested, I had the TB 11-0041 (car wings update) applied at Bankston Nissan on LBJ and Welch today. They have the update there so it can be done.

Thanks for the info. Did they charge for the update? Also, did you take your Leaf there for your 6 month inspection?
You're welcome. No the update is free. I did not get a 6 month inspection.

+1

I bought my leaf "off the lot" there. Very happy with the transaction, and Paul Francis.

If you wish, ask for John Detter, his is their knowledgeable leaf expert.

Free Public Charger alert. UTA has a GE Watt Station in the College Park Central parking garage. South side, lower level. I used it tonight for a couple of hours, no problems. My first public charging experience...

Somebody should add it to plugshare.

Another free public charging alert and another GE WattStation: 2 J1772 plugs at the Marriott Courtyard on Plano Parkway & Preston Road. Looks like a nice unit!

Oooo! thanks for the tip on the marriot courtyard, I didn't have this one in my database. Please if anyone finds a public charger that is NOT on this map send me a PM. I am charged with tracking them for my work. You can always check the map here:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=211891722519472891922.0004a754eab81f5c0cf11&msa=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The map is offically posted on NCTCOG's website (under EVNT - electric vehicles north texas). In addition its a link off the North Texas Electric Auto Association.

Quick info about the GE station in Arlington: The garage is technically for faculty/staff/students of UTA and members of the church across the street. If you don't have tag showing your pass for either of these organizations, you will be subjected to tow. You can pick up a visitor's pass at UTA's main office that will prevent the towing. Also, it appears one of the normal staff/student/faculty owns a volt, so the station is usually always in use during the day. But the volt is almost always done before lunch so unplugging for a charge and plugging them back in when you leave isn't as much of an issue.

My work, NCTCOG, has 2 charges (blink) and we are about 5 or so miles from the UTA charger (NCTCOG is next to six flags). I always am plugged in, but the other is usually free. But if not, anyone can always unplug my red leaf, I get there early enough that I am almost always done by 9ish for charging, and I don't even need the full 80% charge to get home either.

That is so nice of you, I wish I can use it.

Hey that is cool. I didn't know this map existed. I see there are some charging stations here in the mid-cities area not too far from me that I didn't even know about because they were not listed on Plugshare or my NAV.

You might want to use the charging protocol card.

Good note about the Visitor's Pass. I guess it's not a WattStation -- maybe a DuraStation? Either way, it was a dual pedestal setup with two L2 charging connections.

Hmmm I didn't know it had 2. Its definitely a DuraStation by GE, but last time I went it was just a single charger. I may have to swing by the charger during a random lunchtime again. I have a picture of it on the DFW map with the volt being charged. I wonder if they put in another? hmmm...

@shay - yea I thought about doing a protocal card, I just have been too lazy to do it. I have only seen both occupied once. Dave from Blink comes once a month or so to NCTCOG to participate in a EV committee group and has his volt. I guess I should just leave a sign: : "unplug me anytime" since no matter how long someone stays or when they arrive, I should always have enough to get home. I am always just afraid that since NCTCOG sees so many people (both public officials and private citizens) people might start doing weird things if I posted a phone number or something.

@EdmondLeaf - I update this map every friday usually, or at least once a week if not right on friday. I try to get as many sources as possible for the charging station information and try to equalize the information. There are so many discrepencies its ludicrous. i.e. Blink claiming there may be one charger at a spot, yet another blink source says there are 2, uggh. This happens way to much. I guess I could do a service and upload everything to plugshare, but I would have to do that on my own time and there are many stations not in plugshare. Unfortuantely, plugshare doesn't really have space to add all the information I would want, its just comments.

Also, if anyone wants to if you go by a charging station (either charging or just driving by) and you feel like taking a picture, you can send them to me (PM, post them, email, whatever) and if I don't have those stations with pictures on the map, I will add them! Just be aware, especially if I don't have that station's picture, I will post it up on the map, so that includes yourself in your in the picture or your license plate, etc.

Has anyone received the Nissan software/bracket email? I keep reading of many people receiving an email to take their vehicles in for a software udpate and some with a bracket addition. I have not received any email nor has carwings told me (many people were saying the car told them as well). I wonder if they are doing a staggard roll-out. Has anyone here in DFW go the email/message?

Are you talking about the recall?

Here is what I got last night:

Shay, Nissan is committed to providing the highest level of product quality and customer satisfaction. With that in mind, we want to bring to your attention important information regarding your Nissan LEAF™.

REASON FOR CAMPAIGN

Nissan continually improves product performance through ongoing enhancements. Based on the production date of your LEAF vehicle, Nissan would like to offer a complimentary update of the vehicle software. Nissan has added an additional driver-convenience alert designed to notify the driver if their door is opened while the vehicle is still in the "ON" or "READY" mode, and the shift selector is not in "P."

In addition, Nissan has improved the accuracy of the distance-to-empty estimate when using a smartphone or other Internet device through CARWINGS™. The software update also includes various enhancements to, among other things, CARWINGS connectivity, information displays, HVAC operation, and diagnostic systems.

WHAT NISSAN WILL DO

To assure your continued satisfaction and confidence in your car, your EV-certified Nissan Dealer will update the software at no cost for parts and labor at a time and location that best meet your needs. Typically performed at your Nissan EV Dealer, the update can also be completed by an EV-certified technician at your home or place of business, provided there is a suitable and safe work area. Please discuss with your Nissan EV Dealer regarding timing and location.

In support of this software update, a new owner's manual will also be provided.

Texas Nissan of Grapevine
1401 W State Highway 114

yea that one. So odd I still haven't gotten contact about mine and yet my date of acquisition is similar to yours (june of last year). Could things have been messed up since I got an orphan? I am guessing thats the most likely of scenarios. I guess I will just have to call my dealership and inquire about it.

I am not sure. I got the email. Plus the Leaf specialist at dealer (Bankston Nissan) that I took my Leaf to for the Carwings update called me directly about it. I read about recall here so it was not a surprise. I am not sure where you bought it from, but Bankston Nissan is right across the tollway from my office so it is easy to get to. I got the car at the dealer in Grapevine.
