    GM Office Chargers

A few thousand feet away from the first new Costco EVSEs, GM just installed a menagerie of new and old EVSEs and also a frankenplug QC.

    British Leaf

    New Chargepoint EVSE at Costco

Drove by our local Costco today and there was a new chargepoint with a yellow out of service hood on it. It's on the opposite side of the building from where the old chargers where, but it's probably because it needed to be near handicapped parking. Hopefully they will actually get it working...

    Blink charger circuit amperage

The EV project electricians installed our blink EV using a NEMA 6-50r receptacle. That means they would have had to put it on a circuit capable of handling 50 amps right? And that means they would have had to use a 70 amp breaker right? I'm just wondering about future upgradability and whatnot.

Nissan Leaf to go farther and cost less in 2013

    Anti EV Crusader

The building manager at my mom's office is a psychotic asshole and shuts off power to the level 2 charger at her office all the time. He also shuts off all of the nema 5-15 outlets in the garage too. He makes up lies to explain to his bosses why it doesn't work and right now he's wasting about...

    Quick charging smartphones

Everything rumored about the new iPhone points toward it having a quick charging ability similar to the leaf. It has a metal back to better dissipate heat and a new connector capable of carrying the power the new iPad will need when it's upgraded to quick charging later. The power output of an...

    AC Solar Panels

I've been looking into getting a solar system for our house and the recently introduced AC panels seem like the best option. I am wondering if anyone has any advice. It seems like the two options I have would be getting either 17 square foot inexpensive ones for about $500 or 13 square foot...

An Argument That We Need To Kill

Whenever I have criticized plug in Prius owners for blocking EVSEs that we need their response has always been that I'm "irresponsible for getting a car without enough range". It's really annoying and it's only PiP owners that use this argument. Even other standard Prius owners don't agree with...

Holding off on charger replacement to get 6.6 kw in 2013

It occurred to me today that since the replacement chargers that people are getting are having to be pulled directly off the production line, in 2013 they might start using 6.6 kw chargers to replace the original faulty ones. While at best they'll probably downrate them to 3.3 kw that still...

    Southern California Blackouts

With the San Onofre nuclear plant down there are likely to blackouts this summer. I think we all need to make sure that we aren't part of the problem. It could lead to some really bad press. Here is a link to get alerts so you know when to not charge...

What will happen to public EVSEs if Ecotality dies?

It seems pretty likely to happen at this point. Will they be shut down or made free or sold to another company?

    Toyota using Tesla charging connector?

The J1772 Chargepoint at the Toyota Auto Museum in Torrance, CA has two PHEV only spots designated to it. This makes me wonder if Toyota has something they're not telling us. Will they be using Tesla's superior charging connector on the RAV4 EV? How else could they justify this? It's probably...

Green Charge app better than Nissan app

    Even though it's $10 I would recommend getting the Green Charge app. It's way less buggy and if you live in a temperate climate you'll probably never use the preheater/cooler function of the Nissan app anyways. http://www.greenchargeapp.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
