What's the thing you hate most about your Leaf?

No, of course not. But when I need or want a horn, I want something that can be noticed. Why bother with something that goes meep, meep? REGEN. It was sad to start with, then they made it even sadder. Tesla's regen - wow?! But, wife and I sill very happy with the LEAF.

Senate Proposal Would Eliminate Plug-In Vehicle Tax Credit

As I recall the problem, it was if you tried to take both the EV credit and charging equipment credit in the same taxable year, the AMT computation made the charging equipment credit very difficult to get. Even though the AMT did not actually apply. No effect on the EV credit.

Senate Proposal Would Eliminate Plug-In Vehicle Tax Credit

I think you are incorrect, Tom. If you have paid in $7,500 during the year, and you claim the tax credit, it comes back to you as a refund. I also manage, and pay throughout the year, with a zero or very little owed at tax time. BUT, I still get the credit (as a refund), because my total tax...

Senate Proposal Would Eliminate Plug-In Vehicle Tax Credit

NO WAY! Either credit or rebate, I end up paying someone else's taxes. I feel a bit better if he pays at least something. (Yes, I got my credit, and another due for 2013.)

EV owners get mad for unplugging them when they are done?

Up in this neck of the woods (WA), if you are occupying a properly marked EV parking spot and not charging - $124 fine. A lot of these problems could be avoided if drivers would leave contact information on the dash.

How to follow the forum on a tablet (iPad)

While I prefer to do my forum visits using Firefox on a "real" machine, I find the iPad's Safari easy enough to use. What is causing you problems? I am not aware of an iPad app for mynissanleaf.com. There is a forum tool named tapatalk, but I am not at all familiar with it is or what it does...

    Tesla Supercharger Network

There was a report, veracity unknown, that Tesla did indeed ballast the 60 kWh cars to weigh the same, or nearly the same, as the 85. That allowed one required crash test to cover both. But, wow, we really have strayed OT. ;)

    Tesla Supercharger Network

Couldn't agree more. And, I'll add, prospective buyers should consider the dual chargers. High Amp L2 (CS-90) EVSEs are starting to spring up, especially in my neck of the woods, and most, if not all, Tesla stores have the High Power Wall Connector (HPWC) available for visitors use. It is...

    Official Tesla Model S thread

Amen - well said. While we normally do not need the range of our 85 kWh Tesla, it certainly is nice to know we can, and often do, hop in it for a trip to the other side of the state, the Oregon coast, or even a lunch location that would cause a bit of anxiety in the LEAF. Especially true in...

    Spare Tire ?

Got that right. A fully tricked out Tesla P85+ Model S at >120K does not include a spare - not even a pump and goo kit that the LEAF gets. And, there are two trunks.

Leaf Climate Control on when not requested

Any chance a Climate Control Timer got set in error?

Leaf Climate Control on when not requested

Are you saying there is a true battery temperature management system? Or, are you referring to the battery warmer that doesn't kick until -4°F? If the latter, that really isn't a temperature management system at all - just damage control.

    Some questions about maintenance/warranty

Of course they did not do a brake flush for free. The warranty basic coverage, which would include the brake system, is 3 years, 36,000 miles. I'll chance it. ;)

    Some questions about maintenance/warranty

You know, I almost (but not quite) feel sorry for Nissan dealers servicing the LEAF. They count on service being their cash cow, and the LEAF just doesn't do it for them. Some go to unethical extremes to keep the dollars flowing in. While others, like mine, Puyallup (WA) Nissan play straight...

    Some questions about maintenance/warranty

Are you sure about that? Easy enough to find out - load the pdf of the maintenance manual and then search for 50,000. For MY 2011, no such requirement that I can find, and there is no 50,000 mile maintenance - goes from 45,000 to 52,500.

    Some questions about maintenance/warranty

Good point, fair enough. I would like to know why manufacturers seem to be all over place on this one. Reminds me of those stupid 3,000 mile ICE oil changes that the dealer, not the manufacturer, demanded.

    Some questions about maintenance/warranty

The business of brake fluid change has been discussed and cussed in other threads. Personally, I've never done it and am pretty much a ten year car keeper. The last Toyota I owned (2000) and last GM (2002) did not require fluid change. Do any Chrysler, Ford, GM cars require it?
