If the bed won't carry 4'x8' plywood, stacked flat, it will fail. ...

Judging from the photos, it looks like that was a prime design driver. There are no wheel arches intruding into the bed space -- something that always pisses me off about pickups.

6.5' long bed. Total truck width is 79.8", which is 6.65', so when you subtract 6" on either side, that makes for 5.65' wide in the bed, so I expect it should be comparable to an F150 bed.

Shouldn't there be a cybertruck thread?

I would be surprised (shocked actually) if there isn't one by now
I found https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=23472. Not sure if we should re-purpose that or start a new cybertruck thead.

How about using the existing thread? I can always change the title a bit.

EDIT: I moved the posts, but the tools only let me move one page of posts at a time, so if any ended up out of order I apologize.

As of noon today there were 108000 pre-orders. I suspect most boomers will hate this truck. After all, it doesn't stink. it doesn't make vroom vroom noises.... and it actually has guts.

Check out the specs for the lockable storage.

After a three year hiatus from EV early adopterhood I'm in for the dual motor version. Perfect for road trips, towing the boat and getting stuff from Home Depot. The enclosed bed adds versatility.

The stuff around the Cybertruck launch event was interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbNVv5EKluQ. (Video is under 2 minutes long.)

FWIW, Not sure what you've got against Boomers, but they have been the core EV demographic so far.

Yah. You are probably right. I'm a boomer as well. But I am around a lot of old boomers in the RV world and many have seriously negative attitudes towards considering anything with the word EV in it.

I'm a boomer and I'm going for it. After the initial shock wears off you realize it makes a lot of sense and it's the traditional pickup that makes no sense. Aero sucks, even if you don't care about fuel economy the wind noise sucks. Body on frame construction is what you do when you don't know how to do real engineering.

Another scam like the $35K M3 deposits (400K) which generated $400M to cash flow.
With 100K+ pre-orders just this week alone, an easy $10M increase in cash flow for Tesla.
It's highly questionable whether the "ugly one", like a $35K M3, will ever be delivered at the quoted pre-order price.
This time the $100 is non-refundable, an even better scam!

An elaborate scam like the Trump impeachment. Perhaps it's just designed as an expensive trick to flush out trolls that think everything is a scam like fools that come to forums and spout nonsense and are always proved wrong. Stop coming here with your anti-Tesla agenda and manufactured facts. Per Tesla:

DUE TODAY
$100
Fully refundable. You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in late 2021. Tri Motor AWD production is expected to begin in late 2022.

Is it any stranger looking than a Hummer?
Yes. At least the Hummer looked like a rugged off road monster. This looks just weirder than weird.

I think the reveal last night helped get Rivian a bunch of deposits. For the R1T, you only need to get over the silly headlights.

That, and maybe Workhorse as well, or people will wait to see what GM and Ford roll out. I didn't watch the reveal or even read many of the articles as I don't need a pickup (and I think this one is silly), but with Tesla's past history of being clueless about the needs of vehicles designed for utility (FWD) and which tow (no SC pull-through charging spots), not to mention testing claims before they stage a big, splashy roll-out extravanganza, I wonder if anyone thought to put holes in the appropriate places to add cargo racks or provide mounts for tool boxes, such as these : https://realtruck.com/c/exterior-accessories/racks-carriers/ and these: https://www.weatherguard.com/produc.../boxes?page=1#pf-filters=spec:cat/Truck Boxes

Or have they just gone for looks and ignored real world utilitarian pickup use? I see they're claiming lots of storage in various areas, but how accessible will that be? As for the price, I'll believe it when I see it. Oh sure, maybe the SR version will be briefly available for the minimum after they've soaked up most of the higher end sales, but it will soon disappear off the website (you can still order it for awhile, assuming you know about it). I figure the biggest battery version will start at $80k or more. We've been down this road with Tesla at least twice before.

To quote Arnold in the Predator movie when he saw the alien unmasked, "Your are one ugly M.F."

Probably the best moment in the Predator arc is when Danny Glover goes to say it, and the Predator beats him to the punch.

Two guys I know who never thought much of EVs and thought Tesla was silly just ordered the triple motor version. They said they like the idea of the thick metal "exoskeleton"

So you wouldn't call it unibody and clearly it isn't body on frame. More like "body *is* frame.
