Isn't virtually ANY LEAF in the PNW in great shape? Is there a single significant loss up there NOT attributed to high mileage?
Tony, I'm probably in the hottest area in PNW. I haven't noticed any range degradation (and probably won't for 2-3 yrs due to my low mileage and low highway travel). I'll ask around, but doubt we'll see any until we see a real summer again. Last year was cooler than average, only a couple of days over 100F. Also, it's difficult to put in high miles around here due to the lack of charging stations and cross-town distances. However, I think there is one forum member who works out on the Hanford site and may commute from Kennewick. In that case, 60-70 miles per day would be possible.

I notice that someone very near me has a slightly newer Leaf with slightly more mileage, and they too have a 2 bar capacity loss. It's interesting since it shows that my loss is not an isolated incident, and not limited to areas that would normally be considered "hot..."...

The Oakland, CA entry with 11,362 miles has an obvious error in "Built" date. The Renton, WA (28,200 miles) is probably also wrong.

Of the 14 respondents that feel Range is "Significantly less (more than 10 miles)" ... 7 still have 12 bars (including us), and 4 are at 11, while 3 have lost 2 bars.

(Based on 103 responses so far.)

Filled out. The only concern is that I've only had the car for 6 months. The concern is that my perceived of 'almost new' (which is probably accurate) will distort the results for older vehicles.

my manufacturer sticker was not where i expected it to be (not on door but on jamb) but cant imagine it falling off. i just went out there to check if the edges of the sticker was loose at all and its stuck on there pretty good.
I checked front and back of the door, front and back of the door frame, then all four of those places on the back door, and finally under the hood. No manufacturer sticker. I did find four VIN stickers! Is it usually somewhere close to the tire pressure information?

There is also a field for the exact day on the service receipt from your dealership. Mine has the date printed there. Others report that they do not.
I've only been in once for service (the annual battery check that I didn't get a report from). Production date was blank on the service statement.

Maybe I have an ersatz LEAF

I have not logged onto Carwings in ages. But when I completed the survey I decided to collect the requested Carwings info for the survey. I found that my car stopped transmitting info to Carwings on December 17, 2011! I have 13,600 miles on the odo and Carwings shows about 4800 in 2011 and none in 2012.

Interestingly, I received an e-mail from Blink on 9/14/12 telling me that my car is one of a group that is not transmitting information to Carwings. The e-mail gave me a list of things to check but I never did them primarily because I got the e-mail the day before the Phoenix Range Test and the e-mail was forgotten in prepping for the range test. The e-mail said that my car was not transmitting info "for a few months." I guess 9 months is a few months. ;)

I'm not in the EV project (so got no such email) but I thought if you were you had to promise to transmit the data as a condition of getting the free charging station.

Correct, and I thought I was fulfilling that promise by hitting "accept" each time I took a trip. I had no idea my info wasn't going anywhere.

For what it is worth the e-mail also told me that the most common issue was not having "service reminders on" in the carwings settings. I checked tonight after I did the survey and my service reminders were off, so I turned them on.

Duh! Like my mama used to say, "If it was a snake, it would'a bit ya!" I guess that's what I get for going out at night with a flashlight to look. As I said, I looked front and back of the door frame. I didn't look at the part that faces out when the door is open. (Yes, I had originally put the correct month on the survey based on my fuzzy memory.)

Done.

At 15,000 miles still have 12 bars after 1 year and 4 months. Perhaps slightly less range but not impacting my regular activities (ave 40+miles per day).

First year drove 11,000 miles using about 3100 kWh including some preheating in winter before taking son to school. Electricity cost about $440 for the year or about 4 cent/mile using mostly super off peak experimental rate from San Diego Gas & Electric ( I had the higher rate of about .14/kWh).

Glad not send sending dollars overseas for foreign oil, keeping more dollars for the local economy, and driving clean and comfortable every day :)

I received the survey recently, finally adding my numbers yesterday (link to current results below), but my stats may have little effect on the overall picture, since I've only been driving since 6-4-12. I haven't done the 6-month battery check (due December 2012), so I couldn't add those specs. With the weather cooling, my LEAF uses slightly fewer bars in my daily RT, so had to guess I had increased range (all I can do without a gid meter).

It's a positive move that PlugInAmerica is gathering battery information. I'm hopeful this will help the LEAF-driving community leverage amicable solutions from Nissan to remediate premature, excess battery degradation.

would be nice if they could elaborate on their ideology behind the range question especially the 35,000 mile guy. anyone know who he is?
Could be Electric4Me, he hit 30K miles a month ago.
Nope. I just tuned into this thread and filled out the survey. (and my address is in Union City, with 31k miles)

Oops, and looking at the results page shows that I already screwed up, entering "31" instead of "31,000". Can this be updated?

contact Tom. he can correct the info for you. i have suggested that we get email reminders to update our info every 3 months.

for those of you who have just gotten your LEAFs, you may think you are statistically insignificant but that is untrue. the more data points provided the better.

The warranty requires an annual battery check, which is free for the first two years. If your dealer is suggesting a six month battery check it better be free or you should just pass on it. (Sounds like a scam to drum up more service business.)
