From downtown, that's 64 miles that careful driving should get you there. If you're in east county, or south of downtown, you either need to drive slow or stop for a bit of a charge enroute. The good news is that the destination has a Fuji CHAdeMO (ChargePoint) charger waiting for you.

This EVent is in support of the BC2BC-2013 http://www.AllElectricVehicleRally.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, as the rally cars will be arriving from Canada on the last leg of their 1500 mile journey.

Great time and pics!!! And that's good news Tony on the new location! Makes it a tad easier for us "northerners" to make the trek down ;) . Hopefully, there will be 2 Brusa powered machines hanging out down there (see the Brusa thread HERE for all my pics)..

Not to replicate the same old pics that everyone else took, I'll just post a few of my shots.. Great time, and great meeting everyone! Thanks again to Tony for hosting the NERDOUT at his house and for his great fab skillz :D

This gentleman show up late after most of the Tesla owners left but kind of stole the show because his had the rear seat option and EVERYONE loved it!! It was also a beautiful dark green. Very cool guy and his wife and kids were awesome to give others a ride that just came to see what all the hooplaw was.

The young guy on the left just came flying into the parking lot and wanted to see the EV's and Tesla up close!! and the owner gave him and Tony's daughter a ride!

Sorry I missed a great event, but I have been a bit dizzy recently,
and I thought it best to avoid the extra exertion. :(

Glad that you had an excellent turnout.
Also, many thanks for the wonderful pictures.

Awesome. We plan on driving up from Encinitas.
Caravan anyone?

The BC2BC EV Celebration in San Juan Capistrano will now be held at the Surfin Cowboy http://www.thesurfincowboy.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is just down the road from SJC Residence Inn at 34235 Doheny Park Road, Capistrano Beach CA 92624 from 4-8PM. Food courtesy of Evoasis...libations on a "cash & carry" basis as I don't want to get busted for conspiracy to commit DUI;)
Hotel rooms at Residence Inn for the sleepy or otherwise "incapacitated". DCQC at the hotel as usual.
Cheers and hope to see you all there
Angus

4-8pm, Sunday, July 7, 2013

Expect to park across the street (Doheny Park Road), to the southeast on the corner of Domingo Ave. There is not enough room for the amount of cars I expect on the restaurant / bar side of the street. The dirt parking area and adjoining paved parking is part of the gigantic church that is there across the street, and we will be able to keep all the cars together.

I have invited the Tesla Club of Orange County, who will be attending as part of their regular monthly meeting. Naturally, the Los Angeles and San Diego Tesla Clubs have been invited. Of course, all the local LEAF drivers have been invited, as well as other models, and finally, our EV industry friends who are always invited that help make EV's possible.

The BC2BC-2013 First Place overall winner will hopefully be crowned at this event. The top finishing Tesla Model S driver will receive an $869 value Teslaccessories Center Console Insert. We will have this at the event to try out in YOUR Tesla Model S. Currently, as I write this in Santa Rosa, California at the beginning of Stage 3, the number 43 Tesla Model S team of Jack Bowers and Georg Kuhnke are in first place of the 9 entries this year.

This EVent is sponsored by EVoasis. If you need a room for the night (particularly for our tired and potentially alcohol saturated rally participants), I can recommend nearby:

Residence Inn hotel
33711 Camino Capistrano
San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
(949) 443-3600

The good news for Nissan LEAF and Mitsubishi iMiev drivers is that this hotel has a Fuji CHAdeMO (ChargePoint card) DC quick charger waiting. For others, there isn't much nearby charging except a Nissan dealer across the street with J1772 30 amp service. I do not expect the Tesla Supercharger station to be operational by Sunday, but they are UP AND RUNNING in Hawthorne, Buellton, Atascadero and Gilroy up the 101 freeway from San Francisco.

This will be a big one, so bring a smile!!

I know there was talk of a local/Encinitas gathering to go up. Not that we're known for being on time, but if you guys are planning to be somewhere at a particular time and we're actually on the road then, we'll stop in.

Someone mentioned a caravan - if this is still desired I suggest meeting up at the Oceanside Transit Center where people can top-off (for free!) while waiting for everyone. Topping off a bit should also reduce the amount of charging needed in SJC to get back home - for people in north county you could get enough to make it all the way back without charging!

This is the route: http://goo.gl/maps/Rp4f2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Includes hopping off I5 for El Camino in San Clemente - no change in distance but adds 5 miles of surface streets to improve efficiency - and the view will be much better (who doesn't like driving on the coast in mid-afternoon?).

Google estimates 37 minutes 27.3 minutes to get there, so the plan will be to leave OTC around 3:20pm. Will probably cruise at 65 mph unless someone in the group needs a lower speed to conserve charge to get there.

How many others are planning on heading up from San Diego County?

The wife an I will be ICE'in it from the Northern territories (aka San Fernando valley) and thanks to no DCQC port.

But plan on meeting GregH somewhere along the way. If somebody wants to come along from the valley, or hitch a ride.. let me know.

Jason

I'm going to assume I don't have to print out my ticket and that it was just to get a head count. I can display it on my phone, though.
