My dealer is no longer Leaf certified. Now what?

28 days in the shop now. Today marks the third conpletion date given to me expiring. I get the feeling the dealer isn't even working on the car. It too far for me to go check on it. The specialist I've been dealing with on the EV hotline has been taken off the case. I'm told it's been moved up the chain to the arbitration people. I have no idea what that means. I finally heard back from a lemon lawyer but until it's out of the shop I won't have the repair records they need as this one repair is taking forever. At what point can you say that Nissan is refusing to honor the written warrantee and are refusing to work on the car even though they keep saying they are yet nothing changes. I was told the technician was dedicating the entire day today to just my car but when I called the lady said he's been swamped and has had to work on other cars as well as mine. Just when I thought things were making progress I'm furious again. I'm so sick of this.

I waited over 2 months for cosmetic only repairs to my Leaf. Nissan didn't stock any spare parts in the country and had to order from Japan even though it was a 2013 and the TN factory was up and running. Got no compensation, no apologies, nothing. The Nissan dealership and corporation was essentially blaming me for having the audacity for asking to get my car fixed when I did. Luckily I used one of the other many cars but they wouldn't even pay for the gas even though they offered me a rental (that I said I didn't need for a "3-day repair").

Leaf is probably the last Nissan for me. I'll be sticking with Toyota and trying out Tesla.

The car is done. Nissan towed it to my local dealer last Friday, who has never called me. I was out of town which is why they towed it to the dealer instead of my home. Several delays later, today was the first opportunity to get the car. Every deal ship in town is open today except this one. My car is blocked in as well. I called the EV hotline who tried to reach the dealer but failed. This has been one headache after another. Nissan has really dropped the ball. The EV hotline is nice but the customer service stops there. The dealers don't care. If the dealers don't care well, that's a major problem as they are the front lines, the first impression to customers.

I hope my lawyer will be able to get me out of this lease. I am so done with this car it would make me a happy man to see it gone forever. I hope no one else ever has to endure this hell. I'm out about $700 in rental costs so far, 36 days without the car and 39 before I have the next chance to get it. It's the only car we have that can haul a tree home so our Christmas this year will be without a tree. That's lasting memories that cannot be changed. Here's to a new year, hopefully one that will be Nissan free.

That is just beyond crazy. Makes me hope that my dealership never loses its Leaf cert. I am in Virginia, and I usually don't see many Leafs myself. Luckily the dealer has been awesome, but I haven't had major issues either. Hopefully the lemon law can get you out of the lease, but that process seems to take a long time with a high bar to clear to get it done. Hopefully you are at least able to get it back so you can use it in the mean time.. I am guessing yours is a 2013 or newer car Tennessee built car? Also nice to see other Fiero lovers.. I miss my 84' and 85' 2M4's. Probably the best cars I have ever owned or ever will own.

Hi Steve! Yes, I miss my Fieros too. I could go on and on about the several I had, engine swaps, and what not. My friend still has his 87 GT.

The Leaf is a 13 and built in TN. It has been relatively trouble free and my local dealer had always been quick to make repairs and always remembers me. They say it's easy since I'm the only one with a Leaf. So far all of my issues have all been service bulletins. The grabby brakes were first, then AC stopped working because of a leaky hose, and now the heater broke. Who would have though dropping the car off 11/16/13 would result in it being gone until 12/26/13. I called at least every other day. I was simply lied to continuously about the car being worked on and will be ready soon. When I get it back I'm going to give it a good inspection. Who knows, maybe they wrecked it and repaired it without telling me. I can't think of how else the car would take so long.

I just hope to be done with this. I hope no one else has to deal with anything close to this.

This story has all of the qualifications of a situation that could result in a buyback. Most of the issues, seem to be just bad luck, but still you should be able to get out of this car, through the Lemon Laws for your state. Start a case with the EV-Hotline, and NMAC, be calm & patient, but most importantly conduct the negotiations in a calm and professional manner. Buybacks can take many months to complete, and you must be proactive.

Today I finaly got the car!

I took a peek at the computer with leaf stats and I noticed they reset the computer. I was expecting to see this because the guess o meter showed 91 miles range which is higher than it usually shows. I'm worried there was some damage done to the battery having at with a full charge since November 16. I hear it will take 90 days for it to relearn the battery. Before this, I was expecting to loose a battery bar as the life was showing 81% now it shows 99%.

I don't think this is the end to this story.

Well that is excellent news about getting your car back! Didn't mention anything about your capacity problems originally. If so with a 2013 that really sucks, and if you were at 81% Hx you aren't very far off from my 2012's battery health. I can see why you would badly want out of the lease if that was the case. Good luck to you, and at least you have the car back in the mean time.

Ya it looks like an other dealer will lose its cert.

My guess is they fried the battery and need to order a replacement.
