2016 Nissan LEAF SV
With 30 kWh battery capacity!!!! More range than the 2015!
36 MONTH LEASE
$209/mo plus tax

On approved credit. Lease for $209 per month plus tax for 36 months. $2,999 due at signing plus $0 security deposit. 12,000 miles per year, $0.15 per mile thereafter.

$209/mo sounds good... But when you add $2999 down, that's equal to $292/mo with $0 down. Go from the low-mileage (12,000/year) lease to a normal mileage lease (15,000/year), and that's $330/mo.

Also, California has generous state incentives factored into that price. And does the $2999 down include TT&L?

For most of the nation, plan on $400/month + lease pricing.

In what way? I don't interpret those prices as having "generous state incentives" factored in. $2500 CVRP (https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/eligible-vehicles) is something separate you'd need to apply for on your own.

But Nissan's incentives DO vary by region and can allow for cheap leases or purchases.

If I guesstimate by taking on 9% tax to the monthly payment and factoring in that $2999 down, it ends up being almost $305/month.

12K miles/year isn't that low mileage. I had that on my former '13 SV and didn't go over. In my book, low is 10K miles a year. Supposedly there are even some (not necessarily Nissan) 7.5K mile/year leases.

I'm at 13,000 miles on my 2013 Leaf, with a 12k per year lease. ;-) I think I was offered an 8k per year lease on an eGolf.

12,000 miles isn't "low". It's pretty normal. 1,000 miles / month seems to be typical of leases, warranties, etc.

eGolf lease deals are either 7,500 or 10,000 miles/year. The 12,000 mile lease is a bit more.

46-month-old Leaf has 33,000 miles on it, and that's with driving it for every trip it can actually make. That's an average of only 8,600 miles / year.

Working-age Americans on average drive just over 15,000 miles per year and make up the majority of lessees, so that's why 15,000 is considered standard for a lease. If you factor in non-working Americans, average annual driving drops to around 12,000 miles per year, but they make up a minority of lessees compared to working people.

Some manufacturers market it differently, but in the US, you'll mostly find these terms:

10,000 and less is considered "ultra-low mileage".
12,000 is considered "low mileage".
15,000, while normal, is almost never advertised because it's not cheap.
Anything over 15,000 is considered high mileage and is also never advertised. Ford, for example, will contract up to 19,500, but people tend to not lease when they drive this many miles since they will be well out of warranty.

When a site like Edmunds lists incentives, and they show NMAC having a $9800 incentive for leasing a 2016 SV, does that include the federal $7500 tax credit? So it's really only a $2300 incentive?

I thought the lease deals actual had better incentives than the purchase options, but if the above is true they're notably worse.

Keith

The Federal tax credit is undoubtedly included in that. This year the lease deals are pretty terrible, and the incentives to buy are better. Nissan is trying to avoid the lease-related financial problems they've been encountering until now. Lease offers should improve as the year progresses, probably starting with Memorial Day weekend.

2016 Nissan Leaf S....0 Down 12,000 miles per year is $208 per month.

2016 Nissan Leaf SV...0 Down 12,000 per year is $258 per month.

2016 Nissan Leaf SL....0 Down 12,000 per year is $308 per month.

If your a recent college grad there's a $1000 rebate or you work for a company that has a vehicle purchase program with Nissan.

This is in Boston area...

Is the rebates (Federal and State) included??

Thanks

Also, what actually is good lease deal?. Where should the numbers actually land based on the models?? Is there a scale which some experienced members can suggest like a guide book....?

It's not a bad deal on the 2015 SL, but you'd want to check battery pack condition with Leaf Spy. It would also be a much better deal if the car has Premium Package. A good lease deal is either a payment under $400 a month with zero down and all fees included, or a modest down payment like $2k and payments under $300 a month. This is for an SV. Lease deals should improve as the year progresses, possibly starting memorial Day weekend.

Most likely just the Fed rebate is included in those numbers. Not bad lease rates IMO, especially without VPP.

Sorry what is VPP? Thanks

I am also looking to purchase 2015 SL model with and without premium package for 20-21K+. I am not sure whether this is a good idea...Thanks very much.
