We had to get towed home a few weeks ago when this thing was down.

    Quick charging smartphones

Ah ha. Finally justified. The new iPhone 6, which has only a 20% larger battery, can charge using an iPad charger at 12 watts instead of 5.

    New charging stations at Costco?

That's like four levels of intelligence above what our Costco could manage. I have been told that these EVSE issues are intentionally left up to the regional managers. We're paying for their much higher than industry average wages and they have the gaul to be lazy idiots.

    New charging stations at Costco?

That's not what I'm talking about. Our store manager installed physical padlocks on the handles.

    New charging stations at Costco?

No. It's $55-110/ year for a Costco membership. Plus, GM has ten other J1772 EVSEs half a mile away so there is absolutely no reason to restrict it to only people who have to charge.

    New charging stations at Costco?

Our Costco is not that well run. The store manager was in charge and it took 20 minutes to track them down and get them to unlock it.

    New charging stations at Costco?

But now instead they have someone whose job it is to unlock the padlocks on each handle every day.

    New charging stations at Costco?

Our Costco installed some cheap locks on the handle so they can prevent them from being used at night. Very tacky. They should have just towed the people who leave their cars there overnight.

BMW M3 to Leaf? Yes...it happened.

Well, you would already have the wiring for 80 amps of current so you could downrate the first EVSE and install a second.

BMW M3 to Leaf? Yes...it happened.

Yep. Personally, I'd install an 80 amp EVSE if you have the room on your circuit. Never know when you'll have a friend come over in a Model S or when you'll want to upgrade.

    UC Irvine charging stations

There are now 20 new "solar powered" stations free until June 2015 in the Anteater Parking Structure. The Blink and Chargepoint in the Research Park were also replaced by three GEs about a year ago.

    XL1 261 MPG on 0.9 liters & 32 Mile EV Range

The only really justification to have a gas car anymore is if you frequently go out into the wilderness, hundreds of miles from any place to charge up. That is something that this car would be terrible for.

    XL1 261 MPG on 0.9 liters & 32 Mile EV Range

It's the only gas powered car I would consider buying, aside from maybe a 8x8 Stryker or something. Even then it would just be for the novelty. I do almost feel like they're trying to send some sort of message with the pricing. It's pretty irrelevant considering how many they're making.

Ecotality filed for bankrupcy and intent to sell all assets

Again, I'm sure it would not be too hard to find a solar company in silicon valley willing to loan out some panels for a weekend. There were too many trees for solar to have worked easily at that hotel. I just wish they would have been more discrete.
