if the space is in a desirable spot (with shade) then you will have ICEING problems

ANY available spot at Vanderbilt is "desirable" so the next step would be to have clear signage and enforce the rules (which their parking authority LOVES to do).

Yeah, they even have their own policemen :). Seriously, they do!!

And many of them (VUPD) are actually off duty Metro Police Officers.

" ... Don't forget you should get $2,500 taken OFF the price for the Tennessee Rebate as long as you are one of the first 1000 in Tennessee to buy a LEAF ..."

Now that is curious: the dealer told me after he had printed the pro forma invoice that I had to apply directly to the State of Tennessee and they would send me a check for the rebate. Is he jerking me around? My question back to him was "Well, how do I know I am in the first 1000 in TN?" and he ssaid "I guess it's like a lottery or something".

Any comments ... note that I haven't as yet paid for the car but it is ordered and delivery is in mid-November and Broadway Electric is coming by the house next week to install the charging station.

I need some assistance here from folks in TN who've already bought their Leafs and have gotten the 2,500 TN rebate.

Regards

Dave

Your dealer is being a dealer. He's trying to keep the money for himself. The $2,500 comes off at the point of sale. It took me almost 3 hours to buy my car because they wouldn't itemize how they came up with the purchase price. Once they did, it took 5 minutes to complete the transaction.

There will be destination fees, doc fess etc etc added on, but the $2,500 comes off. Make them itemize how they get from the online transaction price you have already agreed to to arrive at the sale price they quote, and ultimately the out-of-door price which includes taxes, registration etc etc.

One thing you can't control is if you are number 1,000 or 1,001. They could 'say' you are number 1,001 when it isn't true. Not sure what you can do about that until after the sale is complete. You have a few days 'cool off' to return the car if you subsequently find they lied to you.

Call the state and have them send you details of how the program is administered and paid. Take that to the dealer with you.

Oh yeah, if you are leasing the $7,500 federal rebate comes off at the point of sale also. If you buy then the $7,500 is part of your tax filing next year.

If you have strong suspicions they are ripping you off, walk. You can always pick up an orphan elsewhere.

Thank you for the advice, JP, I assumed that the dealer is being a dealer, after all, they have their duty to perform and extract the maximum amount of profit from the sale -- caveat emptor. I was planning to post a scan of the actual pro forma invoice, but haven't figured out how to do that yet, but will work on that today. The reason I chose Nissan of Cool Springs is that they are close to my residence. I still have a lots of time to squeeze every possible dime out of this transaction so we will see what we see

CWO4Mann,

Who are talking to at Alexander Nissan (cool springs)?

If you are not talking to the "finance" Director, then all is lost, make sure you get him involved - the sales man "does not know squad"!

Aha! Thanks for the tip .. I've been talking to E. Price who was identified to me as "the Leaf Specialist". Ahem. I'll chat up the finance guy.

Cheers,

I LEASED my LEAF in May at Hunt Nissan in Chattanooga.

Both the $7,500 Federal tax credit and the State of Tennessee $2,500 rebate came right off the top. All I had to do is sign the paperwork transferring both to Nissan Motors Acceptance Corporation.

I put $2,000 cash down, and my payments are $394.70, including tax, for 36 months. That's for the upgrade model with 12,000 miles per year.

I've been told recently that only about 300 LEAFs have been sold or leased in Tennessee, so far. Not sure what other vehicles the $2,500 applies to.

Now 2,175 miles on the car--and loving it!

Hi Steve, thanks for the information. What you did is how it is supposed to be done with a Leased vehicle, as I understand the process. Purchased vehicles go through different hoops and the $7,500 doesn't come around until after the 2011 taxes are filed, assuming the government has any money left by then. Some of the earlier posts from folks on the West Coast mentioned various kinds of "business as usual" stuff with dealers trying the keep certain incentives without informing the buyer or leasor. I know, it is hard to believe that a car dealer would do anything like that.

Dave

I guess they did the same with me. SL, 3 yr. lease 12K miles, $3K down, $367/month. I remember signing something about the incentives...

At our National PID celebration, I heard about a few Cracker Barrels actually getting some EVSEs installed. Back in July I had emailed CB to show my support and I got a nice reply back. They did, however, tell me that the CB near my house was not on the list to get any EVSEs installed, so I was bummed.

Well, last week, a buddy told me he saw the CB near our work got them installed, so tonight after a movie, the S.O. and I decided to check it out. Her comment was "I bet it'll be ICE'd just like the McDonald's that just got them installed." Lo and behold, we spotted the newly installed Blink EVSEs with the glowing LED tops... both ICE'd!

It kind of bummed us out, but again, no signage was around so it is expected that the general public sees it as a good spot. Once inside, I spoke to the manager and brought up the issue of the spots getting taken by non-EVs and how some signage would hopefully HELP alleviate that problem. He mentioned that they JUST got installed last week, and that issue has already been brought up, and was sent up to corporate... hopefully something happens.

Before we stopped by CB, we were actually headed to another restaurant to eat, but on the way decided that if the spots were NOT ICE'd we would eat at Cracker Barrel. After speaking to the manager, we were headed out the door and noticed one of the spots were open. So after all was said and done, the EVSE won CB our business and I ended up getting about 1 hr of juice on the level 2 Blink EVSE.

Not bad for a random movie/dinner date on a Saturday night. Was able to recharge most of the driving done that day. After our dinner, we noticed that the other spot was ICE'd by a different car. sigh Still, a big thumbs up  to Cracker Barrel and Blink for getting these installed! Now let's just get some proper signage and educate the public!

Which CB is this?

I emailed CB about 5 weeks ago and got no response except an auto acknowledgement.

The one located on:
2697 Highwood Blvd, Smyrna, Tennessee

The only reason I found out about it is one of my friends from work knows someone that works there, and she mentioned the EVSEs getting installed last weekend.

More good News on Cracker Barrel charging up to LEAF owners!

I visited the Cracker Barrel at Stewards Ferry in Nashville (near I40 exit 218 Bell Road) for a nice Sunday afternoon Lunch, and found that they have put up a BLINK L3 dual charger, and are in the process of completing the installation. Also they have plans to put 2 additional L2 BLINK charger next to it, so a total of 4 EV charging options. They will be putting signs on the chargers that let the owners of ICE know that the cars are being towed at owners expense if parked in any of these spots. Please check out the all the pictures on my Blog at http://ralphmc.wordpress.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Revenge of the Electric Car opens at the Belcourt on Friday this week.

Anyone fancy a night at the movies? Opening night is expensive, but maybe later in the showing schedule?

Very impressive!.. looks like that L3 is an expensive installation with that transformer. It looks like iced is the accepted term for an non-electric hogging a charger spot.. do we have a term for a Leaf hogging the L3 spot after the 30 minutes are up?. Perhaps Blink should post a sign about that if it happens frequently. Perhps Leafers should leave a card on their dash with their cell phone number as a courtesy.

There is a term already in the English vocabulary for that type of person, it's called "inconsiderate". We already have to many NEW works or abbreviations, I vote we start using the good old fashioned ones..........most everybody knows those meanings.

We plan on seeing it some day OTHER than the opening night. We will probably see it on Saturday during the day (the 2:30 or 4:45 showing). We have a Halloween party that night, so the earlier showings look the best to us.

I carry a courtesy protocol card in the LEAF glove box. I place it on the dash to indicate when someone else can disconnect my vehicle and also provide cell number for them to contact me.

Here is an example of one such card. I modified it to suit my needs.
