    "Pulsating" braking force

I have been experiencing this, and sometimes it seems like I may not be able to control the vehicle. Fortunately, it's at slow speed, but in traffic is is really disconcerting. Temperature may be a factor. When it was around 0-10F I had a bad case, which is worse in the snow and ice. My battery...

Nissan to offer loaner cars for long distance driving, maybe

I hope somebody is listening. I suggested this idea to: My Nissan Dealer Enterprise rent-a-car Hertz No IDEA what I was talking about. :? All close-by organizations, with closed minds. There are Zip cars in cities that seem to be a viable program, so why not standby ICE? Drive in...

Charging Station Questions - MBA student

Thanks for doing this research. Judging by your approach, I'm sure it is more rational than U of Tennessee's determination that EV contribute to pollution because they use coal in China. 1. a-Male 2. What is your age range? c- 46-60 3. How long have you owned an electric vehicle? a- Less...

Knoxville Paper takes up EV bashing from flawed UT research

It was bound to happen. The cut-and-paste style of journalism has put the University of Tennessee report on Chinese power plants into the realm of real news relevant to EV vehicles. Leafers, feel free to pig-pile on the letters to the editor and discussion boards to take them to task for not...

Bad news for people who got degrees from Univ of Tennessee

I concur. But then I've also totally enjoyed my trips to Tahoe, as well. Let me know when you are in town, and we can enjoy some BBQ! Staying on topic, I wonder how the particulate pollution from a good BBQ smoker in Tennessee compares to a cell phone charger in Bangalore. . . . ;)

Bad news for people who got degrees from Univ of Tennessee

Would it be a fair question to ask why UT and the National Science Foundation are spending US taxpayer and tuition dollars to study the effects of electric cars in China?

Bad news for people who got degrees from Univ of Tennessee

I'm embarrassed to be living in Knoxville. And I'm embarrassed for the UT faculty that would promote such a theory as relevant, and for the NSF. I didn't realize that my Leaf is powered by electricity from China.

    Brakes sticking problem after rain

My experience is that when it is wet the brakes are very hard to modulate at slow speeds. If you are trying to easy up to an intersection, or in traffic, you get a neck snapping stop from less than 5 MPH. I spoke to the service adviser at the dealer who said, "Yeah, Leafs are like that." It is a...

Gas stations no longer on my daily radar or is it just me??

I was riding my bike the other day and stopped at a gas station to rest (get a beer, some cigarettes and lotto tickets ;) ), and I watched the poor souls pull in and pump their tanks. It occurred to me that it is an very absurd idea to get in your car and go somewhere else to add energy to it...

Are you sorry you bought a Leaf?

I wanted to jump in here. NO!!!! I'm NOT SORRY I bought the Leaf. It's a great machine, despite: 1. Climate control that is completely irrational 2. Buggy Blink system 3. Carwings applications that any 16 year old programmer would be ashamed to claim. But I LOVE to drive it to and from work...

Electric bill cost for the leaf?

I haven't noticed anything in the electric bill itself. Energy costs vary wildly because of weather, surcharges, etc. I notice the electric bills more when the kids or in-laws are here cooking and taking showers! ;) BUT, I have calculated the cost, which is less than $12.00 per month in the...

Leaf dead after two week vacation

This was a very interesting thread. Now I am wondering where the solar cell charger fits into the situation. Is it charging when the car is off? So if I am away, should I park outside, or, leave some grow lights on the garage. ;-) I have left the Leaf alone for 11 days, and had no problems. I...

Timer priority- Who's in charge of charging?

I can set a charging timer in the car, and in the Blink station. Usually, on a weekday, I have the Timer 1 in the car set to 80% and off for weekend (none set). Yesterday (Friday night), I set the Blink for 11 PM and there isn't a end time or % charge. At 11:00 PM it kicked on, but then went...

How Low Would Gas Have To Go For You To Turn Back?

After 2 months and 1900 miles in the Leaf, the price of gas is no longer even relevant (but it is fun to annoy people with the money I save). ICE are stinky, loud and obnoxious. The are slow and clumsy. When the light turns green, I'm halfway down the block while the ICE are lumbering forward...

    Tennessee Public Charging?

FYI, The TVA has four L2 chargers at Melton Hill Dam recreation area near Oak Ridge. These are solar powered.
