Has anyone used the empty SD-card slot A? If so, for what purpose? Why is it there?

I wonder too. I think you can put music in an sd memory card and play it. Need to try it.

The LEAF can write a "backup" of some location data onto an SD card in the left-hand SD card slot. It can read that data to "restore" those locations.

I believe that no other uses have been identified.

I don't think so. But if you want to play music on a micro SD card, I highly recommend this.
