2nd quarter they said 2Q 2015 for full Model X production. Now they have said 3Q. It's not a year it is 1-6 months depending how you interpret it.
Remind me when was the original original production estimate of the X when first announced?
A Wikipedia reference pointed me to http://insideevs.com/tesla-delays-model-x-production-to-late-2014/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

There are some typos there, but from the video clip there, around the 24 min mark (from a Feb 2012 unveiling), "we'll start production towards the end of next year... bulk production will start in 2014". The next year refers to 2013.
End of 2015 vs end of 2013 sounds like about two years to me. I assume the bulk will now start in 2016 if the first rolls off in the 3rd qtr 15.

From an irreverent Tesla S owners perspective … (sorry, but may contain language not suitable for children …) … did a quick search for 'oatmeal' and didn't come across this listed as well so if its buried on another post probably worth a second look for those who may have missed it …

"4,000 miles in 7 months..."

What a waste of money

It's a fun cartoon, to be sure.

On the topic of the 'second page', is anyone asking GM to cough up for an Italian museum?

Anyone know how used prices are doing? If a used 60 kwh hits 50 grand, I could probably swing that. Just not sure if that'll ever happen. Tough to find anyone who's selling one.

Before or after a tax credit?
You may be able to find some 60kWh pack Model Ss that had been used as loaners by Tesla for $57k.
These hadn't been titled so you old still get the rebate on them.
The 60s tend to move slower than the 85s.

Can 60s be upgraded to 80kWh when it is time to replace the pack?

Is it really this bad for where direct sales are banned? I only knew of the ~5 states where it's been well publicized about the direct sales ban. For example, I assumed that, while Tesla didn't currently have a store in Kansas, this was just a business decision that they didn't have a huge market, so no real need to invest in a store. There are a few Model S in Wichita, but I've personally not seen one on the streets yet. If this ban in Kansas really is true, it might be time to pester my state representative that claims to be for free market interests.

+1; I kind of thought the same thing when looking at this graphic; I'm in a state that has the factory stores and service (IL) so even as heavily regulated and strong the dealer network is here, there has been a decent push for public adoption of EV's plus we have a 10% MSRP EV rebate, 50% EVSE rebate and lower 100% EV license fees so the need to add a middle man wasn't a factor I would guess. I see at least 1 or more NEW Tesla S sedans on the road (as indicated by their yellow temporary IL registration tag on the back) almost daily so was surprised to see a drop off in new Tesla registrations indicated for IL.

One owner had his 60 kWh pack replaced by an 85, just because he found the 60 to provide inadequate range with the then current deployment of superchargers on the east coast: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1089183_life-with-tesla-model-s-battery-upgrade-from-60-kwh-to-85-kwh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Whether they'd do this for anyone else or it was a one-time deal, I don't know. Certainly most people who have the cash (as Noland obviously does) opt for the bigger pack right from the start.

Speculation is building that the doors are a problem. I fear this will seriously damage the company.

The key word here is "speculation". With Tesla Motors' strong engineering resources and their continued assertions that the falcon wing doors will be part of the X, I do not think they are any sort of showstopper that will damage the company. Delay the X, maybe. However, the Model S 85D and Model S P85D, with dual-motor AWD, should help with demand from snowy climates.

S prices falling rapidly, and a used 60 is already in the ~50k range.

See report below, of ~$58.5 k net price from Tesla, before State and local incentives, for a "well-equipped" 2014 S loaner.

Tesla Motors has always offered a discount on inventory vehicles of $1 for every mile it has been driven, plus 1 percent for each month the vehicle has aged.

The per-month age discount has now been doubled to 2 percent on inventory vehicles...

I was able to learn of the raised discount rate when my friend Rifleman, from the Tesla Motors Forum, became the lucky recipient of a better-than-expected price on a used loaner car.

His car had a new price of $83,000, but he was able to get a discount of about $18,000, bringing his total purchase price to just under $66,000 (before the $7,500 federal tax credit) on a very well-equipped 2014 Tesla Model S with the 60-kilowatt-hour battery...
http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1095489_tesla-model-s-showroom-discounts-doubled-on-outdated-loaner-cars" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Remember that even a cheap $50 k S will be an extremely expensive vehicle to own, both in continuing depreciation and service/maintenance.

You should probably expect to pay about as much just to replace the tires on a S, (~three times over 100k) as it will cost to replace the battery after the same 100k in a LEAF.

announced Model S60D cancelled, P85 will be 'D' only.

That's interesting. I have an order in for a 60D. :? Maybe they'll give me an 85D, and restrict the pack capacity, like when they cancelled my 40.

I cancelled my Tesla S order the other day, since they refuse to make my 60D. I'm pretty much resolved to just picking up a used 60 later next year, if I can find one with the Autopilot stuff. With so many current owners jumping on the new D model, I'm expecting quite a drop in resale values once they start taking delivery of their new car. eBay and other used car sites are already seeing a huge spike in Model S's for sale.

You can get an idea of how unrealistic S seller's current expectations for S values are, by looking at the recent (lack of) sales on EBAY.

205 S offers over last ten weeks, and zero sales made for the last ~10 days.
