At 17,000 miles my AHr is still 67.3620 (col H in logs), Hx (col DR in logs) is around 106 and max GIDs I see on a daily basis is around 283. I charge to my car to 100% every day and drain it down to like 25 GIDs remaining. Is it unusual to have such healthy batteries? Or am I reading something wrong?

Not bragging, I just want to understand.

One of the advantages of living in "the air-conditioned city".

The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.

thanks for keeping us updated on the degradation profile. I'm at AHr=50.14 currently. I note in your history here that there was a sharp change in AHr from 4/17 to 5/5. any ideas why this data point seems to be so much larger than the rest of the dataset?

As with what one might expect, these data correlate with the bar drop points at the various AHr capacities
as one drives.

I've got a vague recollection of a hot spell in spring. That may have been the reason.

I've sort of been benchmarking mwalsh's car to compare the battery degradation on my own 2011 Leaf, but it looks like he is leaving me in the dust in the race for a warranty replacement. My latest readings:
9/27/14-- AHrs=48.32 CAP=72.94% Hx=53.15% GID=201 @93% SOC Mileage=48,719

It looks like I am still over 1 AHr away from losing my 3rd bar, and I am only 11K away from the 60K mile cutoff, so it appears unlikely I will lose 4 bars within the warranty period, unless I drive over to Phoenix and park it in 100F+ weather w/ 100% SOC for awhile..

Apparently, the milder San Diego coastal climate has been less hard on my Leaf battery than his in Garden Grove.

TT

Okay. Lost my 2nd bar today 10/13/14. Now officially in the 10 bar club for our Blue Leaf.
At this rate, I'll lose the 4th bar pretty easily before 6 years end.
:-(

< cut, updated >
Consider a tale of 3 2011 Leafs: (we got them all at the same dealer and same week)
2 of which we own (both equal miles, 29K miles), and a friend who lives nearby whose Leaf still have 12 bars (P3227 applied) and have 32k miles.

2011 Blue Leaf (no P3227, QC=1, L1/L2=1096), 34k miles
09/23/13: AHr=57.03 CAP=86.07%. Hlth=83.67%
05/11/14: AHr=55.10 CAP=79.89%. Hlth=85.33% (lost 12th bar somewhere in Mar, 2014)
10/13/14: AHr=51.61 CAP=77.89%. Hlth=60.45% (lost 11th bar on 10/13/14)

2011 Silver Leaf (no P3227, QC=13, L1/L2=896), 35.2k miles
06/28/13: AHr=58.84 CAP=88.81%. Hlth= n/a
10/25/13: AHr=57.87 CAP=87.87%. Hlth=85.33%
03/10/14: AHr=56.05 CAP=81.61%. Hlth=81.75% (lost 12th bar somewhere in Mar, 2014)
05/18/14: AHr=55.10 CAP=83.16%. Hlth=79.88%
08/19/14: AHr=52.95 CAP=79.91%. Hlth=63.69% (SOC is 90.1%, 214 GIDs 76.2%)

2011 Friend's Blue Leaf (P3227 applied, QC=13, L1/L2=1465) * mostly L1 (120V charging)
05/20/14: AHr=58.00 CAP=87.54%. Hlth=85.57% (no bars lost)

Surprised that people in the Bay Area are starting to drop their 11th bar already, since it's cooler up there especially in the winter than it is down here in Southern California.

For whatever reason, your friend who mostly L1 charges seems to be doing much better then the other two cars. Perhaps the P3227 update? Has it been hot there the last couple weeks in the Bay Area? Hot temps are known to suppress Ah readings more in non-P3227 update cars, but it should hold up better in cool temps.

For fun, here's my Ah readings at similar dates as the cars above:

09/29/13: 55.25
10/31/13: 54.74
03/10/14: 54.11
05/12/14: 53.64
07/08/14: 53.14
08/24/14: 52.42
10/13/14: 51.89

The 11th bar should go away very soon for me, probably within 2 weeks.

As a point of reference the following numbers got a battery replacement.
AHr=43.32 SOH=66% Hx= 44.95% Odo=58,078 8 bars

If anyone else gets to a point they get a battery replacement please post your numbers before you have the swap.

Updated my latest data. Sorry there were some previous minor mistakes from cut and pasting.

The degradation from 12th missing bar to 11th missing bar was rapid. I am also expecting to lose the 11th bar on my Silver Leaf in a couple of months. Friend's Blue Leaf battery appears to be going strong- not sure what he is doing to his car after he lost his 12th bar. Maybe charging to 80% all the time?

ok battery gurus help me out here. This is new Leaf. Cycled to 100% a time or two, 100 miles per charge very feasible if we wanted to go below vlbw (high 80s at lbw). 5.2 avg so in other words no range complaints but getting anomalous spy data. 18% soc for a start - this was taken with one bar and 11% showing on dash, and 18.2% would mean it only has 154 GIDs max - absurd obviously. Thoughts?

SOC% can not be used against Gids. They come from different places so are not the same units.

SOC is state of charge. Where Gids is units of energy. You would think they would correlate but they don't. SOC comes from the BMS and Gids from the VCM that may or may not explain the differences.

SOC % range will stay the same for the life of the battery whereas max Gids will drop as the battery ages. A 10 year old battery may have a max of 154 Gids when fully charged but S0C% will still be 95% at full charge.
