And it continues. If people even get these it should be interesting to see how high the failure rate is. I'm betting on high.

Received my refund check yesterday(A month after cancelling the order). Hope it doesn't bounce.

At least you got it back, cash it quick. They probably needed to wait to sell another prototype so they could pay you:)

Maybe we can get ChargeAmerica to answer these questions, instead of guessing?
I care about the real answers, that is why I posted the questions.

Their link
http://www.ev-chargeamerica.com
does not work on the Wii Opera browser.
It does work with the IE browser an a PC.

The link worked fine for me. According to the website the EVSE plugs into a 240 dryer outlet and comes with a 20 foot chord. It even has Smart Meter Technology. The price is $649 + $50 shipping and no tax charged to CA. I ordered one today so my electrician will know exactly what needs to be done to have it ready whenever my car gets here (pending).

Wow, best of luck. You may get it working by the time the car comes. I suggest testing it before you leave it sitting for your delivery months away. I remain astonished one would buy one of these and even far in advance of delivery. Just ask for the specs and minimize your risk.

It apparently it plugs into a socket "similar to" a dryer plug.
Read their FAQ.

Please let us know what happens.

Makes it easier to return that way it seems:)

Did you read this entire thread prior to ordering? Did you talk to anybody on the phone or just order via the internet? Just curious.

So far, it seems, one incomplete "prototype" was "accidently" delivered to a forum member.

Possibly a 2nd unit was delivered to another member ... any late word on a 2nd unit?

Did the "prototype" get replaced?

We've caught the attention of Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield from "all Cars Electric" on this thread...
She also hosts the "This Week in Energy (TWIE)" podcast, and "Transport Evolved" podcast

TWIE: http://www.thisweekinenergy.tv/

Transport Evolved: http://www.transportevolved.com/

both podcasts are on iTunes as well

There will also be a webinar this afternoon at 3:00 pm on "How to properly pack your EVSE for return" and for advanced EV users "How to use a volt meter to see if your new EVSE works before calling your electrician". If you attend this seminar we are including "discounted" UPS return labels with the new units for and extra $10 on your Paypal.

Remember folks, all units are UL listed! Unknown Laboratories (TM) does rigorous testing on our units and insures at least one part of the EVSe in non functional before it leave the factory a few weeks after your order is placed.

Hi Nikki,

It's been some time since we chatted, back on EVDL I think. You were just getting your first EV:) As you know, there is a constant stream of players in the EV space some good, some scammers, some well intended but not competent and those with with poor business models that will never survive. Unfortunately, some EV newbies get a bit impatient or are not properly experienced in filtering thought these companies and for many the technology is outside their understanding. I truly hope people on this forum realize that there is a wealth of EV history and experienced EV types to get help from. The vast majority of this forum consists on those new to EVs and I do hope we can attract new members that can lend their extensive experience. In the future I'm going to start an advanced users area for high-level tech discussion on all topics as we get more advanced members or current members diving deeper into their cars:)

Regards
