The possibilities of a $4k 24kwh hour battery pack that can be purchased are outstanding. You can power a house with that.

Turned mt vehicle in for battery replacement this morning.
Battery Part Number from the crate is 295B0-3NF9E
Let us know how the replacement goes - see if you can grab pics of the new/old pack.

That part number comes up here: $4,398.90 http://www.nissanpartscheap.com/OEMParts/nissan-142/2/295B03NF9E.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The website appears to be the Nissan Poway, CA dealership...

Looks like a rip-off, how about $3,599.20 ? Give me 2 please ;)

Nice find for the $3,599.20 price Valdemar, Thanks! :)

@sksingh: Do you mind trying to find out the actual installation cost from the dealer even though yours is warrantied?
Thx.

You can only purchase a new battery pack with return of your old battery pack, so you can only power your house from your Leaf.

The longer you wait the higher the chances are you'll be getting a refurbished pack and not a new one. It may be a while before refurb packs are used for warranty replacements, but it will start happening at some point.
"Refurbished" will likely mean that the all the original cells are replaced with new cells. The rest of the traction battery pack would be reused. Firmware may be updated.
That wouldn't be too bad, actually it would be good. I was referring to the fact that Nissan has no obligation to provide a new pack as a warranty replacement, or a pack refurbished to original specs. Their only promise is to get your pack back to 9 bars. So in this context "refurbished" simply means "used".
True, as far as it goes. However, I doubt that Nissan wants to see a customer again for a second warranty repair for the same issue in a few months. These packs are expensive to ship, stock, swap out, and return. Do it once, do it right, and be done with it.

By the way, Stoaty's battery model predicts my current battery has 0.02 years service life remaining. About in line with LeafSpy indicates, relative to others in this thread.

ya they were advertising battery pack prices BEFORE Nissan announced they were available. but further investigation also revealed there were other items associated with EV powertrain that has the same part numbers which means that the website is likely erroneous

I checked with Nissan Customer service about the battery replacement bracket required to retrofit new battery packs on my 2011 Leaf. They called back the next day and confirmed that the bracket is included with the warranty replacement at no cost. I will probably need a replacement in the next few months if not sooner - at the same Nissan Poway dealership.

When I asked them a year ago about battery cost they gave a quote of about $5000 with a part number, but it turned out that this was only for Nissan's internal bookkeeping with the dealerships for warranty replacements and not to sell to the public. So this recent price might fall into the same category.

I asked, the service tech, and he had no idea what Nissan gets billed for. Finally got my car back today after more than a week. The battery had arrived, but they forgot to order the brackets. Brackets were on back order and took a week to arrive.

Congrats on getting your car back! How does it feel to have 12 bars again?

Feels like day one. Such a relief. Now I have some freedom of movement, during the last few months it was limited to work and back. Now I can go out for lunch and run errands.

Quick update on my warranty replacement battery.

Battery assembly, part no. 295B0-3NF9E
Battery mfg'd 8/14/14 in TN.
Ordered 8/28/14.
Arrived 9/9/14 in So Cal after 7 bus. days.
Installed in one bus. day. Held overnight to fully charge via L2.

After a few days, my stats are:
Odo, 54200 mi.
Gids, max, 279 ... inching up from 271. (corrected)
AHr, 66.14
Hx, 102.43
SOH, 100

For folks in OC, I recommend Tustin Nissan for battery replacements. Now having completed three replacements, they've got the install nailed down. I hear they have a 4th replacement battery install in the works.

Edit: Corrected max Gid typo. ;)
