Just repaired my driver side seat heater. I now think this may have been broken
from the factory, as I never felt any thing on low, and high was just interesting.
I had a clue when giving a ride to my Sister, and she turned off the passenger heater, and
commented on warm her back got. I did not even know the back had a heater,
I thought it was just the seat! Any way, out of warranty. It was clear looking at
the service manual that the heater was an add on from 2011, as it was not quite
complete, and the detail on the seat circuit was not correct, the manual said
there were 3 wires, and 1 thermostat, what I found were 4 heat wires, and 2
thermostats. The wires are hooked in pairs with the 2 seat bottom wires hooked
in series with the 2 seat back wires, with a thermostat on each pair. The break
I found was in the seat bottom where it had to go under the hog ringed listing
wire to get to the front part of the heater. Note the manual also did not mention
the hog rings, it just said remove the Silencer(the foam). These need to be replaced,
and I think to do so without hog ring pliers would be very difficult. I bought stainless
steel hog rings from my local West Marine, and the pliers from Harbor Freight.
