It doesn't matter how many dealerships find that price in their computer. This is a real price when someone gets a non-warranty replacement of their battery for that price (TaylorSFGuy?). Until then, it is meaningless.

Given how dealership parts departments like to mark up things 4x or 5x I wouldn't be all that surprised.
BTW.. How would they replace the entire pack? Do they replace the shell, BMS, contactors, harnesses... The whole 9 yards?
Or do they get 48 modules and go into the existing shell with existing harnesses, contactors, BMS etc and swap out all 48 modules one by one?

I'll call them today - as he possibly gave misinformation given the part number is wrong.. This was supposed to be for the entire pack but not including inverter or harness.

So that's the motor price. Dang. Was all excited there for a minute. :( That labor price sounds about right for motor replacement. Shouldn't be more than an hour of shop time for a pack swap.

Called my local dealer and was told part was missing a digit.
Then they told me they needed to call Nissan and requested my VIN number which I declined.

The Parts guy will call Nissan and call me back with part number and price.

Should I stand by and wait for the call?

Retail Price between $13,000-$14,000
I asked for part number and they referred back to Nissan.
 
yes - I called Poway Nissan back and they are awaiting a call from Nissan to provide the price - so the cost given to me was apparently not correct. As soon as they reply I'll post the answer.
 
Apparently Tesla is down below $200/kWh already?

Unlikely. One data point we have is this (you want to click on the link to a pdf in the post).
 
Think what happened to prices of HD TVs. A 2000-dollar TV in 2004 is 300 bucks today. We'll be in much better shape in 3-5 years and able to swap those batteries for double range at a local electro auto shop for about 3-4 thousand.

Personally I'm hoping for Li-Sulfur.

Where did you see $200?, that article states the price is $350 to $400 per kWh

I'm sure if Tesla buys 1 million cells a month they are getting a better price. If they made 12,000 cars so far then they bought at least 200 million cells already. Maybe they are paying $200 per kWh, maybe $50

But the end user is not going to get that discount.

It says it all over. In fact, it says that the battery costs are likely to be even lower than that.

In 2009, when Tesla started design work on the Model S, cell costs for 18650 cells were already estimated at $200 to $250 per kWh.

In December 2012, the I.E.K. reported that prices for 18650 cells were collapsing. As of the third quarter of 2012, when Tesla began Model S production, they had fallen to $120 to $200 per kWh.

If true, I think this practice may be more dangerous than helpful since it doesn't really provide any realistic protection but may fool the tech into thinking it does. You need a complete loop to pass current so the only way rubber mats on the floor can do anything is if there is a short inside the battery to the housing which is in contact with the chassis and lift (i.e. defective battery and non-functioning LEAF) AND he touches the other terminal.

IIRC, Phil and others posted ~ that list price ~ a year ago.

Excellent news if correct, but until someone actually buys one at (or near) that price, I will remain skeptical.
