@ht2: "Stevens Creek Nissan = MSRP. BBB grade F but only 1 input so I think not enough sampling count."

Actually, Stevens Creek Nissan has more than one unfavorable rating. The BBB site says they were eliminated from the BBB due to their responses to the 17 complaints logged with the BBB (12 of which were not addressed). You can find the information here: http://sanjose.bbb.org/Business-Report/Stevens-Creek-Nissan-197123

Boardwalk Auto Center now has an A- rating from the BBB: http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/business-reviews/auto-dealers-new-cars/boardwalk-auto-center-in-redwood-city-ca-62780

I think I'll be going through Boardwalk myself. I just called them, and Mike said they have 200 or so Leaf orders so far (the most in the country), and that they expect to have demo cars available around March 2011 (Nissan keeps moving the date around, so it's not definite).

Sounds like I'll be talking to you next month!

Tennessee

Action Nissan in Nashville and Alexander Nissan in Franklin both offered MSRP (Alexander also wants a $399 doc fee, not sure about Action). Newton Nissan in Gallatin is selling below invoice, $1800 off MSRP on my car. Talk to Justin Garza. One limitation that I found with the Nissan system is not enough transparency in pricing, at least with lease requests. Unless you call the dealer directly, you can't compare their cap costs, fees, and money factors.

What are they giving for money factor ?

Ordered today from Brendan Dolan at Boardwalk Nissan in Redwood City, CA. I tried to do business with my local preferred dealer Razzari Nissan but when I inquired if they would honor their previous quotes to other customers of 5% off MSRP, the salesman balked and said that they had done it once or twice when the ordering process had begun but wasn't sure if they could still do it. He said he had to talk to his manager who would not be in until the next morning. No call back the next day even after two emails. I sent Boardwalk an email asking if they were offering the 5% off MSRP and 6 minutes later I got this reply: We will! Send it over and I'll make it happen for you! So I changed my preferred dealer and ordered from the dealer who wanted my business. Now that's service!

Are you leasing or buying?

If you lease they may change your money factor like Rairdon did to get back some of the discount they gave you.

@Gonewild, I am buying.

I was told today that some dealers have a limited amount of orders per month that they can discount. So if someone got a certain deal with a dealer it does not mean that another person would be guaranteed to get that same deal. Shop around! There are a lot of dealers!

That would be entirely a dealer's decision, not Nissan's! A dealer can choose to discount one or all, at their discretion.

Sorry it took me 6 minutes. I'm usually faster.

Since Nissan stuck us with an allocation I hold open a certain number of spots for forum members at forum pricing, and if I've spoken to someone in the past and promised, I deliver. If I was a customer, that's what I would expect, so as a salesperson, that's what I deliver.

I find it rather amusing that at the top of this page we have banner ads from two different dealers both claiming to be the #1 Nissan Leaf dealer in the US, with North Bay Nissan also claiming to be "1st in the World." On what are these claims based? Is there any objective measurement criteria involved or is this just advertising hyperbole? :?:

#1 what? (who cares?)

They do not seem to be claiming to be most helpful,
knowledgable, honest, or competent.

My rep says we've processed the most orders. Guess Ron needs to update his banner.

I don't really care to be honest, but the owners have an ego, and they approve all of the creatives.

And this is precisely why hyperbole advertising has become meaningless to the consumer.

EVERYONE claims they're #1 in sales, customer service and satisfaction. "No, No we really DO have the best service in town." But this guy over here says the same thing. "But we really do."

And on it goes. This is why customers roll their eyes at these claims and they HATE the car buying process.

But you have to admire the sheer audacity and creativeness.

While looking at cars the other day, I observed a car that the dealer has $1400 in add ons not on the original sticker. Seriously. $999 for "Protection Package." It wasn't even undercoated. Just "fabric protector", door guards (cheap plastic strips) some paint protectant (even thought it's been clear coated at the factory) and some other worthless gimmick. A thousand bucks for something that the detailer down the street charged them $100 for.

The other $400 was for a "security" system. No wait, some decals. LOL

That's right, no one asked for any of this stuff but we'll just slap on $1400. I guess they're counting on some 22 year old buying their first new car. If they fall for that, they'll fall for the extended warranty, glass etching and other back end products in the F&I box. I hear they don't turn on the spotlight now, though. :)

Sorry, car dealers deserve every bit of derision that comes their way.
