Someone on this forum bought the Sylvania Linear Motion LED with magnet:

It uses a battery and has a motion/ight sensor. It also has a magnet on the back that can attach to the inside of the charging hatch. That way when you pop the charging hatch at night, it'll light everything up. Then when you approach it later that evening in the dark, it will light up again.
Granted it is not as cool as an illuminated ring, but I'll still be ordering one when my Leaf arrives.

That website (Wayfair) says they're out of stock until 11/11, but I found it on Ebay by the same company...strange. Also, it says nothing about any magnet attached, so I don't know where you saw that. Did the person that bought it say it had a magnet attached and did they tell you how it fit inside and how it is working?

I didn't post the original message but I have one and it does come w/ magnet and sticks just fine on the door. Work reasonably well. When I open the door from the house to the garage it also lights up, so that's a bonus feature.

There is also a charging port cover that is sold in Japan and the UK. I emailed Nissan about it, but then, maybe I can try ordering it thru a cousin who lives in good old London town

You may need to copy and paste the link. There are lots of Leaf options if you live in Japan. I noticed even the UK offers more options than the US.

Tried that link ... it took me to a translation of the "Leaf to Home" emergency power conversion.

I can confirm that this is in-stock at Fred Meyer stores here in the northwest and does include a magnet.

It does fit very well and is quite bright. There's a lot more room under the door than it looks. I'll try and get measurements for the light. Two nice things about this light are that the magnet can be stuck to the light, that way nothing is stuck to the car permanently. The other thing is the LED's are mounted on a swivel, so you can adjust the light such that it shines directly on the ports when the door is open. There would be plenty of light without that, but it's nice to have. I'm sure any of the small stick on type lights would fit inside there. Sylvania may no longer make that light as it's not listed on their website anymore.

Mine is not those dimensions, but more like 4 x 3 x 3/4 inches, with a magnet, which I mount on the under-side of the charging access hatch lid.

Works Great.

I believe the dark button to be the on/off switch. It would be easy to find in the dark, I think.

Thanks! It's actually about $4 less than Ebay because there is free shipping to a Lowe's store. The one on ebay is $10 + $8 shipping.

In Australia I couldn't easily find the Sylvania light available. I did find a suitable light on eBay like:

The two magnets are not really strong enough but I had a couple of stronger magnets so it is well held on. It's been fine for two months so far.
