BMW Cuts Off Toyota, GM and Ford in California: HOV loophole

If BMW can do this for $40k, so should Chevy. Looking forward to the next Generation Volt with 100 miles EV and 100 mile gas range. Also a similar car from Nissan, but WITH temperature management for the battery pack. Would love to see a small 1.0L TDI plug in hybrid from VW meeting these specs too.

Nissan LEAF Update from Andy Palmer

Glad I was able to get out of my Leaf when I did. I would not have leased my Leaf if this warranty was disclosed back in early 2011. I won't be buying or leasing a new Leaf as a result of this warranty. I would need a capacity v. time curve to know what I can count on month by month. At least...

    Fast wireless charging

Given the higher cost of wireless charging hardware, I would be more inclined to pay if the device charged as fast as the one in the article (20kW). Maybe wireless charging manufacturers like this will figure out how to sell the complete system (car and garage hardware w software) sooner than...

    Fast wireless charging

OpenEVSE - Open Source Charging Station

Phil, thank you for the recommendations. I will follow them.

OpenEVSE - Open Source Charging Station

I would have gladly paid Phil instead, but his upgrade of the 2013 Volt EVSE eliminates 120V charging capability which was a deal breaker for me.

OpenEVSE - Open Source Charging Station

Thanks Gary! The 2013 Volt oem 120V portable charger has 6 secure torx screws. It took 5 minutes to open. It can charge at 8 or 12A. Yes, Volt will charge at max 16A on 240V. This upgrade will continue to provide 120V at 8 or 12A (user selectable in car, unchanged from oem), and now the...

OpenEVSE - Open Source Charging Station

Pictures of my 2013 Chevy Volt portable EVSE after gutting and replacing with Open EVSE components. Many thanks to GlennD, he guided me through the process and then last night wired everything up, programmed the chip and tested the unit on 120V. I still need to add an L6-20 male connector to the...

    The unofficial Leaf dropout thread

Yes, if the price was right. I wanted to buy my Leaf at the end of the lease, but not knowing the cost to replace the pack and stressing over my commute made no sense. I have no intention to buy the Volt since the residual is too high. The Volt will keep me in the carpool lane and maximize the...

    The unofficial Leaf dropout thread

looks like you're lacking the capacity to make an appropriate generalization.

    The unofficial Leaf dropout thread

I'm out as well. After loosing my first capacity bar, I continued to lose range, making my commute difficult. Replaced with a 2013 Volt. I have to say I am impressed with the Volt so far, but sad the Leaf is gone. Also very disappointed in how Nissan is handling this. spelling corrected.

    Letter about possible Nissan Lawsuit

How about future Nissan Leaf owners? Wouldn't a change in behavior on Nissan's part (assuming a positive change) benefit future Leaf owners? I might buy my next Nissan Leaf instead of lease if I had more confidence in the battery based on technical improvements, better warranty and potentially...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

According to Carwings, my 2011 and 2012 average energy economy is 4.5 miles/kwh. Not sure if this is the same thing as lifetime efficiency. If not, where do I find lifetime efficiency? I charge my car overnight inside my garage and always drive it the next day. So it does not stay at 100% charge...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Received an attorney advertisement in the mail today regarding Nissan Leaf battery problems. I leased, and as long as the car meets my needs I probably won't consider this option though I have to say loosing a bar at 24k miles in Orange County annoys me. I know I charge twice a day, but there is...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I typically have about 25-30 miles left on GOM on both ends of the trip.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I only turtled the car once. Never quick charged. Commute is 76 miles and I like to drive 80 MPH on the HOV lane. So that means I have to charge twice a day using L2 to 100%, once at home, once at work, in the Long Beach port area. My garage doesn't get that hot, and it it's typically 10 degrees...
