LEAFSCAN™ - The Ultimate Instrument for your LEAF!

Very nice, I too would be interested in such a device.

    Charge Port Cover

I put a little padlock on my J1772. Its a lot cheaper and performs the same function.

Should Leafs have an optional larger battery pack

Definitely they should have different battery size options! Both smaller (for lower cost) and larger (for us who commute over 100 miles/day). When my motorcycle was in the shop for a week, that 40 minutes of charge time got old fast off the 210 at the Irvine station early in the morning for me...

Got a demo Leaf from Thursday till Saturday, but had bad day

Remember with 100% charge you burn through those first bars quicker because of less regen.

Charging Strategy - Short Shopping Trip Leaf?

I'm sort of in the same boat as you. For a week an a half I charged 100% and drove some long trips to break the batteries in. Since I retired, I run only 80% charge levels and plan all my trips to minimize the times I charge the car. I usually get about 2 weeks of use out of my Leaf between...

End of Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Parking Decal Program

Just got a snail-mail from the state of California DMV that they are ending the program because of the new law. The rule changes (quoted from the letter) are as follows: 1) Only a vehicle that is connected to an electronic charging station may park in a ZEV designated parking space 2) A ZEV...

    Touch OK to accept

There is no reason they could not have you sign an acceptance for responsibility paragraph when you purchase the car stating that the OK could be overrode for your vin numbered vehicle. Why don't they do that? They could make it retroactive too.

Nissan's Andy Palmer on dirty power - "complete bullsh*t"

Per the following article (gasoline takes about 6KWH not 1.5KWH that has been quoted in earlier emails): In a 2008 report, Argonne National Lab estimated that the efficiency for producing gasoline of an “average” U.S. petroleum refinery is between 84% and 88% (Wang, 2008), and Oak Ridge...

Volt battery fires investigated -- links to stories

Out of all the EVs so far I prefer Nissan pack approach the most for two reasons. Modular - separate cheaper packs lessen replacement costs and KISS - keep it simple.

Nissan Engineering Team Visit Dec. 3rd: Recap

Hope the group that is going will be persuasive enough to convince the Nissan engineers the need for a software updates (heater fan situation, etc.). A lot of us fellow owners cheering you on :D

Charging at work. Yay or Nay?

I retired just recently, but I'd wished that were I worked would have installed an L2 for $4 (considering my commute was 110 miles) charging.
