Finally the charts for Oct. Thanks to insideevs.com for the estimated numbers (and for generally tracking the numbers).

Which Volt will show up - Jackal or Hyde ?

Volt seems to have the most variation in sales numbers.

My guess:

Leaf - 2,002
Volt - 2,020

OK, I cheated:

nice article and the buildup of inventory does lend some fuel to the "year end deal" debate. Even with very modest improvements for 2014, some deals might had for a 2013.

makes my lease decision tougher as I need to go for cheap (looking at a near zero investment in the LEAF after incentives and fuel savings! well actually my goal is $150 a month... but zero would be better!)

Spark - 105
Volt - 1950
Leaf - 2250

The YTD numbers also show how far CCS has to climb to catch up with Chademo

YTD Leaf 16,076
YTD Spark 310

I didn't even include the iMievs (no disrespect intended). Granted the Spark is still in its early days, but Chademo is necessarily going to be around a while....and growing.

Did not see that coming.

Toyota Prius Plug-In: Shocker…This month’s shocker was the Toyota Prius, with sales checking in at 2,095 units. Yes, that’s 2,095…no typo there.

That is impressive. If Toyota would start selling that vehicle in all 50 states, I bet the number could be twice that. I mean it is sort of a "duh" purchase if you are in the market for a Prius and the Toyota dealer explains that after the tax credit you can get the PiP for about the same money.

It does seem odd that Toyota would not sell the car in all 50 states. I did find that they are in only 15 states. What was the reason for that any how?

“The Prius Plug-in is available in 15 states (California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Hawaii).”

Mostly CARB states. The earn credits to sell (or use).

OK CARB credits thats why. Wonder what sales would be if PIP were a 50 state car.

I just think that it's pretty lame that LEAF finishes 3rd behind both the PIP and the Volt. Nissan you need to step up your game.

It appears that gasoline is going to get pretty cheap this winter, and that is NOT a good thing for EV sales. Missouri is now down to $2.92 per gallon.

Yeah, it's pretty much a no-brainer right now. I've seen a lot of new ones on the road recently, Oct sales no doubt have helped.

I really wish it had about double the battery capacity, though and could travel at up to 70 mph on EV power alone. If Toyota does that I'll get serious about replacing my G2 Prius.

I do wonder how Nissan is going to handle all these SoCal and Atlanta LEAFs that will start dropping the 12th battery capacity bar like flies around the 2 year mark of ownership. Just about all '11 SoCal LEAFs should be down a bar by now or on the verge of losing them. There was a big surge in sales at the end of '12 so we'll probably start seeing a lot of bar losses in early '14. 2015 will be a big year with all those Atlanta LEAFs that have been sold this year dropping bars.

Factor in all the 3-year lease returns that will start to pile up by next summer - I suspect 2014 will be a make or break year for Nissan and their battery technology. If they don't get the hot battery into production by summer next year and at least announce some sort of bump in battery capacity for the '15 LEAF, I have a hard time seeing sales continue unless they can keep the lease deals going. Regardless, I see Nissan having a tough time keeping sales going for the '14 LEAF. I hope I'm wrong!

Is anyone else going to step up with a real plug-in besides Nissan, GM and Tesla? Will the BMW i3 actually sell? It sure looks like things will continue more or less the same until '15 model year plug-ins start hitting dealerships...

In October, Nissan LEAF is Norway’s Best Selling Passenger Vehicle

Nissan set a whole bunch of records by delivering 716 LEAFs, which is the LEAF’s highest sales results to date in Norway and the highest ever market share at 5.6%.

The way it is going Spark EV might end up being the plugin with the lowest sales this year.

This month might be the 2nd best month ever for plugins after the record breaking August - if Ford sells at least 1300 plugins.

Shouldn't the thread title be: 2013 Oct. Plugin Sales Discussion : PIP 2095 Volt 2022 ;)

Wonder if they are holding the production (and shipping to USA) back until the DCFC option is available (after all spec and OEM equip can be tested).
