Steering noise - is this normal?

I'm pretty sure I didn't hear this noise earlier. Is my electric power steering on the way out? My apologies but the sound in the video turned out very quiet so you may need to crank up the volume, in reality the sound is not loud but quite audible to the point I can hear it with the radio on.

To me that sounds like it is inside the cabin, right? It sounds more like the sensor/servo that detects the steering wheel position as you rotate the wheel. Maybe its just dry of grease? I'd have to look at the service manual to see how that system works. What year Leaf?
 
Yes, it feels like it's coming from under the dashboard, but sounds travel in mysterious ways in metal. I guess I should pop the hood and check to make sure. It's a 2011.
