What's funny is that fighting air resistance uses a lot more power than most people think, the range of it at low speed off-roading will actually get pretty good range. ;)

That's what I'm hoping for. The way it's going to be used, I shouldn't really ever get over 20-30 mph max. With those bigger tires and the extra weight, I'm hoping to get about 50 miles per charge out of it.
 
cwiggy, you just inspired me. Thank you for sharing this project. I am heading to the junkyard to pull a fender off an '11 leaf to replace on my daughter's '13. I have some larger wheels I was thinking of swapping out but was avoiding a serious modification, but seem what you have done just encouraged me to go for the mod. Thank you sir.
