I haven't been to DR to visit relatives in a long time, but I am surprised about the country using more EVs. The DR electric power infrastructure is not that great and could use great upgrades/improvements. Although, major cities like Santo Domingo have better power infrastructure than other areas of DR. Plus, a lot of homes use generators to deal with power outages. I hope that the EV charging stations are abundant in Santo Domingo.

I am not surprised that the cars are imported. I know that people (former DR natives) have been sending over cars from NYC to DR for years. My dad did the same back in the 1990s; he sent over a Jeep. It is cheaper to send them over than you would expect. I expect that people do the same from other major cities of the US, like Miami, etc.

Enjoy your time there!
