I have just ordered a 2013 Leaf SL. It comes with 17 inch wheels

I have a set of almost new snow tires from our VW Jetta which is being traded in,
they are 225 / 45 r 17

Will these tires work on the new Leaf ?

btw how good / bad are Leaf (s) in the snow. We don't get much but have to be prepared anyway.

With snow tires, the Leaf is awesome in the snow!

What is this snow thing?

It's that white stuff that causes many Southern Californians to flock to Big Bear and Mammoth where they can spend large sums of cash in an attempt to glide upon it.

They might fit, the VW tire is just 0.4 wider according to http://robrobinette.com/tire_diameter.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but it is also not as tall so the clearance might be okay. Of course you won't know for sure until you try to put them on. One thing to keep in mind is that because of the circumference difference (78.45 VW vs. 79.99 Leaf) your odometer, speedometer, and economy ratings will be slightly off.
