As of 12/23/14, Lake Charles, LA with 6 stalls (open 12/21), and Auburn, AL with 6 stalls are listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 36/141/918.

As of 12/23/14, Kamloops, BC with 4 stalls is listed and mapped. Total Canadian SCs now 2/6/38.

Tesla's supercharger map claims a total of 148 NA SCs, but the above only totals 147 (they and I have never listed or counted the SC at the Chicago service center). This may be Brattleboro, VT which was reported as having a couple of stalls lit up and one Model S being charged today, but that may be the company's test car. If so, just in time for Xmas skiing in New England. Now they really need to get Lone Pine and either Inyokern or Mojave open, so SoCal types can get to Mammoth this season.

Auburn MA with 8 stalls is now live. Already, two S's have used it.
Saw your and other posts on TMC, but until it's on the map I don't list them. Sometimes they get shut off again by Tesla for whatever reason, prior to being 'official'. Still, it's certainly important, and along with W. Hartford (and Brattleboro) will really open up New England.

More importantly for Californians is the news from the crew foreman in Manteca that they would be heading to Bakersfield next. That's critical for 60s going from Harris Ranch to Barstow, as otherwise they have to divert through Tejon. Helps to provide cover for 99 also with Manteca, although they'll need at least one more in between. Lots of people, me included, thought the dot on the revised 'coming soon' map represented Mojave, and we'll have to see if they will still put one there in addition to Lone Pine and the Inyokern and Bishop areas.

That's one I've been keeping my eye on. Opens up the southern route to San Diego via I-8. If I can ever afford the Model III someday I'll be making that trip to visit friends in Tucson and SD.

Since we're just into the New Year, I thought it might be useful to look back one year to the state of play, as represented in a post upthread from January 8th of 2014, but first a recap. At the end of 2012 there were 13 SCs in the U.S. Tesla maps forecast between 80 and 90 by the end of the 2013 - they actually completed 50, a shortfall of either 37 or 47, so they achieved at best 62.5% of their goal; at worst only 55.6% of goal.

Tesla maps were forecasting between 201 and 206 SCs, either in the U.S. alone or perhaps including Canada. I don't remember which and can't be bothered to search the posts on TMC. They actually had 144 in the U.S. plus 7 in Canada at the end of the year, so best case they achieved 75.1% of their announced goal, a shortfall of 50 SCs (or 33.1%), and worst case 69.9%, a shortfall of 62 SCs (or 39.7%). People notice this sort of repeated underachievement, so whatever ambitious internal goals Tesla decides to set for themselves, they really should divide them by 2 before posting them publicly. If they'd done this for 2013 and 2014 it would have resulted in them equaling or slightly exceeding their 2013 goal, and for 2014 when they would only have needed to have 125-128 completed, they would have been cheered for being well over their goal. The company has been in business for 11 years now; it's time to start acting more mature and lose some of the irrational optimism.

And now, Back to the Future, as of 1/8/2014:

By the end of this year there will be multiple paths covering the country tying together all major metropolitan areas with 2015 being spent filling in the gaps and beefing up existing infrastructure (adding more plugs, solar PV, grid storage).

What they plan beyond that is yet to be declared, but Tesla will have a huge advantage over all other EV manufacturers by the time their main stream EV hits the market.
You're assuming that Tesla will maintain the schedule they set for themselves, and it has been pointed out repeatedly they are well behind that. By the end of 'Fall' they were 30 or 40 SCs short of what they had predicted, so why should we count on them to suddenly do a lot better, not only making up the time they've lost plus finishing all the ones that were never supposed to be done before the end of 2014? After all, Elon was originally supposed to take this trip over Christmas vacation, and there's still something like 10 or 15 SCs needed before he can do that, not to mention that the I-95 Boston-Miami corridor, which was originally scheduled to be completed by the end of summer IIRR, is still not finished. That one should be done shortly, at least for S-85s.

I've made no secret of the fact that I'm far more impressed with Tesla than I am with Nissan or any of the other BEV companies, but they're still subject to all the usual causes of delay that tend to bust schedules, and I won't be too surprised if at the end of 2014 there's still only one transcontinental route finished, and that almost the least efficient one imaginable. At least Tesla owners are lucky that Elon and his brother didn't travel from Chicago through New Orleans and then Fargo on their way to LA
Unfortunately, my prediction turned out to be accurate; we still only have a single inefficient transcontinental route completed, although that was at least shortened somewhat. Still lacking from Tesla's 2014 maps, a through transcontinental route via I-70, I-40 from Gallup to Oklahoma City, I-10 Between Florida and Columbus, TX, I-35 north of DFW to Salina/Topeka, I-85 NE of Atlanta, I-90 in the NE, I-80 etc. etc.

On the positive side, I-95 was completed to New York, as was I-75 in West Florida to Lake City [Edit: And up through Atlanta to Chattanooga]. Tesla has also finally acknowledged that they need an SC in Springfield, IL for 60 owners traveling between Chicago and St. Louis, and it's under construction. New England is (finally!) getting some SCs, and I-90 between Cleveland and Boston is now either under construction or at least on the map. I-80 across Nevada is starting to move, not that that's of major importance compared to I-70 right now. Ohio and Indiana spokes are looking a lot better, even though through routes haven't yet been completed.

On the negative side, Tesla built 6 SCs along I-90 in Montana to serve almost no one and didn't connect them at either end, while I-90 in the Northeast saw no work at all, and they still haven't built an SC in Columbia, MO to at least join STL and KCM, leaving aside the larger failure to join Topeka to Triadelphia. Atlantans are able to get to Mobile and in the not too distant future to New Orleans, but still can't get past Greenville, SC (this one wasn't solely Tesla's fault) heading NE, and Floridians still can't get to NO. Texans are still pretty much stuck on the Island, although the rescue ship can at least at least be seen on the horizon.

In California, I-395 is under way but may only be completed after the majority of the ski season is past. Manteca will finally allow Bay Area Tesla owners to get to Yosemite Valley if not much beyond it, and 85s can now avoid the detour over to Vacaville coming from/to from Harris Ranch, but still need another SC south of Corning. Mojave (permitted) and maybe Bakersfield is also apparently planned, and much needed to avoid a big detour to Tejon Ranch when traveling between Harris Ranch and Barstow. U.S. 101 north of San Francisco is also getting its first SC, and one's apparently planned for Napa as well.

Yep, they fell short of their goals.

Yet what they have achieved is phenomenal.
I'm looking forward to their next "failure" :)

Here's the current list, minus all the past opening dates up to the end of 12/14. I will continue to announce future openings in separate posts, linking back to here. The immediately following post shows all opening dates from 1/14 on, and I won't repeat them here. There's also a link to the supercharge.info site.

I'm moving the overall list showing all opening dates after 1/14 here. The states are listed in the order they originally appeared on the official web page, alphabetically but divided roughly west of the Mississippi first, then east. Those states that have been added since they switched over to the new format have been listed in alphabetical order in the place they would have occupied in the old list. I only included those which appear on the web page, leaving off some that are known to be open but not yet listed. This list replaces the one that appeared at the top of page 67.

Edit: Per the 'Tesla Supercharger Confirmed' topic in the TMC forum as well as photos, corrected # of stalls at Hawthorne from 4 (as shown on Tesla's SC page) to 6, and also updated the Ca. and absolute totals from 12/77 to 12/79, and from 460 to 462.

Eau Claire, WI, with 6 stalls, and the temp site at Bethesda, MD, with 2 are now listed, so trips between Chicago-Twin Cities and Glen Allen-Newark are now doable in winter by S-60s.

As of 2/4/14, Yuma, AZ with 8 stalls is officially online. As expected, the rate of new SCs coming online has dropped off considerably since the X-C route was completed. While they don't have to maintain the pace of 23 SCs they brought online in January, Tesla will need to average about 15/month for the rest of the year if they are to meet the 'by 2014' map total.

As of 2/13/14, Pleasant Prairie, WI is listed and mapped, so 75.

As of 2/20/14, Las Vegas, NV with six stalls is listed and mapped. Nevada is out of alphabetical order because Tesla's Supercharger website lists alphabetically by state abbreviation, and I wanted to use the same order here. I wonder which location will get them to 500?

As of 2/24/2014, Aurora, IL west of Chicago with 4 stalls is listed and mapped, total now 77. No one knew about this one. One more location should get them to 500 stalls.

As of 2/28/14, Lone Tree, CO with 4 SC stalls is listed and mapped, total now 78 with 500 stalls.

As of 3/11/14, Plymouth, NC with 8 stalls is listed and mapped, total now 79. They were talking about opening one SC per workday this year, so they're well behind that pace since they finished the first transcontinental route. Who knows how much of that is due to the heavy winter, and how much to other factors.

As of 3/16/14, Green River, UT with 4 stalls is listed and mapped, total now 80.

As of 3/20/14, Buckeye, AZ with 8 stalls is finally online.

As of 3/25/14, Greenwich Ct. N & S with 4 each direction for a total of 8 are listed and mapped.

As of 4/7/14, Richfield, UT with 4 and Cranberry, PA (at last) with 6 stalls are now listed and mapped. Salt Lake City is 161 miles from Richfield, so easy in an 85 and doable with care in a 60. Las Vegas is 285 miles so still not possible, until St. George (for 85s) plus Beaver for 60s open. But they're getting close to eliminating the wholly unnecessary backtracking loop through SE Utah, into NM and then Arizona for people transiting, cutting almost 300 miles off the route from Grand Junction, CO to LA.

As of 4/15/14, Beaver, UT with four stalls is listed and mapped. 85s going transcontinental westward can probably now avoid the detour through New Mexico and Arizona, at least in good conditions, but those going eastward will probably need to drive very slowly and carefully if they try it, as it's 220 miles and 4,500+ feet of climb from Las Vegas.

As of 4/22/14, Hamilton Township, NJ with six stalls is listed and mapped. They really need to pick up the pace now that winter's past, as the year's almost 1/3rd over and they've only been averaging about 1 SC/week since they finished the initial transcontinental route, instead of the 1 SC/workday pace they intended to achieve for the year.

As of 4/30/14, Roseville, Ca with 7 stalls is finally open, to sighs of relief from Bay Area Model S owners who will no longer have to detour through Folsom when heading up to the North Tahoe and Reno areas.

As of 5/3/14, Woodbridge, VA with 4 and Albany, NY with 3 stalls are listed and mapped.

As of 5/7/14, the long delayed and eagerly awaited San Juan Capistrano, CA with 7 plus Triadelphia, WV with 4 stalls are listed and mapped (SJC actually went live yesterday).

As of 5/8/14, Macon, GA with 8 stalls is open, but not yet listed or mapped after one week, so I'm putting it here anyway [Edit: listed and mapped 5/15/14].

As of 5/20/14, Gila Bend, AZ with 8 stalls and Ritzville, WA with 4 stalls are listed and mapped (opened 5/17 and 5/18).

As of 6/11/14, Nephi, UT, with 6 stalls and Hays KS with 6 stalls was listed and mapped.

As of 6/12/14, Goodland, KS with 6 stalls is listed and mapped. Totals updated to 31/97/611.

As of 6/23/14, Limon, CO with six stalls is listed and mapped; it opened on 6/20. Totals updated to 31/98/617.

As of 7/3/14, Salina, KS with 6 stalls is listed and on the map. Total now 31/99/623.

As of 7/14/14, Tifton, GA with 8 stalls (opened 7/10; 100th U.S. Supercharger) and Wickenburg, AZ with 6 stalls are listed and mapped. U.S. Total now 31/101/637.

As of 7/23/14, for some strange reason an SC with four stalls in Billings, MT, is now listed and mapped. It can't be reached from either Rapid City, SD or Lusk, WY, the two nearest SCs, so presumably one or more SCs in between are underway. Total U.S. SCs now 32/102/641.

As of 8/4/14, The Dalles, OR with 5 stalls is listed and mapped (reported open by site owner on 8/1, but no usage reported in the interim). Total U.S. SCs now 32/103/646.

As of 8/7/14, South Hill VA with 6 stalls is listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 32/104/652.

As of 8/14/14, the long-awaited St. George, UT SC with 4 stalls is listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 32/105/656.

As of 8/22/14, Lake City, FL (live 8/20) with 6 stalls, and Edison, NJ with 8 stalls are listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 32/107/670.

As of 8/26/14, Truckee, CA with 6 stalls is now listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 32/108/676.

As of 9/9/14, Chattanooga, TN, with 6 stalls and the Barstow, Ca. upgrade from 4 to 8 stalls are listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 33/109/686.

As of 9/25/14, the long delayed Oxnard, Ca. SC (reported live 9/24) with 10 stalls, and Brandon (Tampa) Fl. with 8 stalls are listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 33/111/704. As of 9/26/14 Indio, Ca., has also been reported via Tesla email as open, but isn't yet listed or mapped. It is possible that Tesla's U.S. supercharger stall total has now passed the total of U.S. CHAdeMOs, which were reported to total 700 within the past month.

As of 9/27/14, Indio, Ca. with 8 stalls is listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 33/112/712.

As of 10/3/14, Casa Grande, AZ with 6 stalls is listed and mapped (live 9/30). Total U.S. SCs now 33/113/718.

As of 10/14/14, Cordes Lakes, AZ with 6 stalls, and Lafayette, IN with 8 stalls (live 10/10) are listed and mapped. Arizona becomes the second state to reach double digit SC sites. Total U.S. SCs now 33/115/732. U.S. CHAdeMO total recently given as 731, so this may be the point at which SC #s overtake CHAdeMO #s here - if not it will certainly be soon.

As of 10/17/14, Topeka, KS with 8 stalls is listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 33/116/740.

As of 10/24/14, Big Timber, MT with 4 stalls and Bozeman, MT with 4 stalls are listed (but not yet mapped). Total U.S. SCs now 33/118/748.

I'm looking forward to their next "failure" :)
You've got me curious. Just how far short of their announced goals would Tesla's execution have to fall before you would be critical instead of merely disappointed? Would it take 50%? 90%? 99%? 99.9%? And a related question; by any chance is your first name Pollyanna ? ;)

even the fan boys are disillusioned. on a personal level, the local to me service center that was promised more than 18 months ago still hasn't appeared.

Yeah, people do eventually notice the difference between hype and performance. I thought a lot of the comments were right on target, and represent the frustration that's building up among many of Tesla's previously most ardent supporters. Although it may take some time, people will look behind the curtain.

You've got me curious. Just how far short of their announced goals would Tesla's execution have to fall before you would be critical instead of merely disappointed? Would it take 50%? 90%? 99%? 99.9%? And a related question; by any chance is your first name Pollyanna ? ;)

Second question first, no it isn't :p
It would depend upon what other options are available.
If company B was rolling them out at a rate of 500/year and company C at 300/year then I would be highly critical.

As is, I am disappointed that they didn't hit their goal.
I do wish they could more accurately forcast, and gave us more information about what the holdup is.

I am also thrilled at the convenience, reliability, and span of the network.
And even though the timetable is off, I very much appreciate the predictions for locations so I have some idea of what the network will look like in one or two years.

I'd love to see a similar map from some of the other automakers.

Yes, indeed! Tesla gets a lot more slack in my eyes because they are trailblazers.

However, I agree that it almost seems to be in Tesla's DNA to be overly optimistic as to how quickly they can accomplish things. This is a very common problem among engineers, including top notch ones. As a brash engineer determined to change the world, Elon Musk himself encourages aggressive goals with tight time schedules. He is known to be very demanding. Greatness is achieved, but it's usually late. As much as possible, maybe they should avoid sharing timetables with the public. Honestly, though, I'm not quite sure how I would "fix" this without killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

As far as SCs go, it's easy, as they don't require lots of time and money for development, so they don't have the major unknowns. Just use the same system that is used by Supercharge.info on their map. That way, instead of showing 'Open Now', 'Coming Soon' (which has been shown to be almost meaningless), and end of year goals, they would instead have 'Open', 'Under Construction' (pretty much guaranteed to be open within three months, even with maximum slowness by the utility), 'Permitted' (likely although not guaranteed to open within six months), and (conservative) year goals. They can set whatever fantastically unrealistic internal goals for themselves that they want, but shouldn't publish them. This way, people will be happy when they exceed their goals, instead of unhappy when they fall short again. Or as my old sig said, when nurturing a new technology, under-promise and over-deliver rather than the opposite.

ISTM their biggest problem, alluded to in the article and comments linked by apvbguy, is that Tesla has been all over the map. They need to focus on some core issues, especially in regards to superchargers. That's what they did originally, concentrating on the I-5 and I-95 corridors and (although a lousy route choice) the initial transcontinental route. I think it's far more valuable to customers for them to concentrate on one or two regions/routes at a time, get them done and then move to the next group, than the scattershot approach they've adopted over the last year, which sees almost no routes actually finished on time and leaves large gaps in those that were at least started (cf. I-70 between Denver and Triadelphia).

My highest priority list at the moment would be completing I-70 from Topeka to STL plus Springfield, IL; I-10 between Columbus, TX and Lake City, FL; getting started on Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC, Mojave and Bishop CA; plus finishing up West Springfield, MA, Brattleboro, VT and Hooksett, NH, Grove City, OH, and Manteca/Lone Pine CA.

After those, 2nd priority would be finishing I-70; I-35 north of DFW; start I-90 between CLE and Albany (at least Erie, PA, Buffalo and Syracuse NY to start with, followed by Henrietta [I-90/390 jct. S of Rochester] and Utica, NY, plus Ithaca and/or Binghampton.

It will be spring by then (if not summer), so start on Coeur d'Alene, ID plus West Yellowstone, Gardiner and Kalispell, MT (and hopefully St. Regis or at least de Borgia/Haugan instead of the stupidly placed Superior); Pocatello and Idaho Falls, ID; Either Price or Helper or Spanish Fork, UT; Ash Fork and Tusayan, AZ, and similar gateway towns for National parks for the summer vacation season. If crews are left over, then complete I-80 from Truckee to SLC, and I-40 from Gallup to OKC, but definitely ABQ at a minimum. And get all the ones in Canada that are under construction finished.

This will require that they average well over 10 SCs completed per month, versus the fewer than 8 they averaged for 2014. But we know that they can do at least 15/month, as they did so in Europe for one quarter.

I'm not sure Superchargers are a core issue. They may be to a few of us, I certainly appreciate your steady updates on Supercharger progress but I wouldn't be surprised if the "idea' of Superchargers is just as big a factor in selling cars (their core business) as the ubiquity of them. The keynote speaker at the TesLive event in July, Steve Jurvetson, alluded that Superchargers are merely marketing and as far as he was concerned, most Tesla owners would fly rather than drive more than a few hundred miles.
I just finished a 1400 mi R/T from SoCal to Utah, visiting 5 Superchargers twice. It was the holidays. Never saw more than one other Tesla plugged in. Even in Barstow and Primm. Maybe Jurvetson is right.

That's a lovely map!
Lest some of us forget, these Supercharger maps come with this "CYA" caveat from Tesla... The map above is a representation of the corridors we plan to enable and the timing thereof. Exact locations and timing may vary.
