Are the Sigs that high? I thought those prices were for the Founder's Edition cars.

Sigs are fully loaded 90s.
If you max it out, you get a bit north of 140k.

Documents from this lawsuit provides some insight into why the X's introduction was ~two years behind schedule:

Tesla Sues German Auto Parts Maker Over Model X Door Delays

Tesla Motors Inc. filed a federal lawsuit against a German auto parts maker for allegedly misrepresenting its ability to design the signature “falcon wing” doors on its Model X electric sport-utility vehicle, leading to a last-minute change to a new supplier that caused delays...

In May 2015, Tesla ditched that company’s design and built an electromechanical door system and hired a new supplier, according to the lawsuit...

I thought EM said the doors were no big deal. Did he misrepresent the challenge and risks that presented?
He said on several occasions over the past two years that the doors were a major part of the delay. I don't remember for sure, but I think JB may have also said as much. IMO, the doors are an example of EM's hubris coming back to bite him; he seems to have been the only person who pushed for them, or thought them necessary or desirable (at least in the early stages). Once they were publicly announced, some customers thought they were 'cool' and wanted them, but I wonder how they'll feel when the IMO inevitable malfunctions start occurring with frequency, especially in bad weather.

It appears they probably could have had a Model X with regular doors (and folding 2nd row seats) on the originally announced schedule or close to it, which would have satisfied plenty (and probably the vast majority) of customers. Or put power sliding doors on, although that was never likely, as their association with minivans would damage Tesla's 'cool' factor for a large % of potential owners.

I also thought that Falcon Wing doors were a mistake (much like the disappearing handles on the S), and that the delay in getting them to work properly was unnecessarily hurting Tesla. I think the X would sell just as well with conventional doors.

But... how much extra press did Tesla receive because of those doors? Those extra "gee-wiz" features help to keep Tesla in the news, and not have to actually advertise to sell cars. People see it as more of a high-tech, high-end car because of these features - moreso than if it were a completely conventional car with an electric drivetrain. It's hard to say how much of a difference they make. But they certainly get talked about a lot.

Gigafactory is moving along nicely per more articles today.

This latest update contradicts what some have previously believed about Giga:

http://seekingalpha.com/article/386...1fec58329e2b0d52d89a630764&uprof=44&dr=1#alt3

Interesting choice of term.
Rather than "update", a more accurate term would be a wild opinion piece, written by a TSLA short, based upon speculation, 2nd hand information, and comments from other TSLA shorts.

O.K., have you found data to refute the data in the article? It is fairly compelling.

Pretty much as expected, lots of QC issues with the early Model X. See http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/59839-Post-Initial-Problems-with-the-Model-X

Considering the price of these cars, the fit and finish issues (panel gaps, seals, carpeting etc.) are ridiculous. I don't doubt it will get better with time, but you can sure see the effects of the push to get cars out to customers overriding QC.

Different now tho.

From a person picking theirs up tomorrow.

And the good news, [my Delivery Specialist] service people said my car was the most flawless they've seen so far.

Every indication is that we've moved into a new phase of higher production, MUCH higher quality vehicles.

Picked up the car after it had XPEL film and Opti-Coat Pro+ applied. Driving home on auto-pilot and IT missed my turn (<grin>) but the next turn happened to be a road that took me by a Citgo refinery. Seemed like a picture opportunity. (Note: it was was raining lightly out)

Car is fantastic. It has exceeded my high expectations.

Congrats. Looks great. The tint on the side windows looks substantial. Is that factory or added with the XPEL etc?

Thanks!

The rear was done and it definitely doesn't seem dark from the inside.

I had the front doors done with LLumar CTX (Ceramic IR heat rejection film) at 50%. I was really only concerned with the UV protection (mostly for the humans inside). Will be nice for roadtrips. Many don't realize while the windshields have 99% UV protection that the sides don't have that high. I've been burnt a time or two on drives and am usually cautious.

+1 congrats on going 100% electric this time -- the blue color on your X is quite nice; prefer a bit darker (have seen a few Tesla S sedans in what looks like a 'midnight' shade of blue) but this one is a winner as well. I myself was considering an X but now that the Model 3 is getting (just a bit, who knows) closer am doing a more wait and see. Still prefer the higher ride height on trips that your X offers and with the addition of more Tesla SC stations that's really become a reality more than ever before. I've only seen one other X 'signature' edition 'in the wild' so you're still in rare company.

It is darker depending on the light. Here is it indoors when we picked it up.

That's quite a difference. Did you choose the color based on how it appeared with natural or artificial lighting?

I saw both. It seems like most often it is between those two. The natural light above was grey clouds so it looks different in sunlight as well. I liked them all but probably lean toward a the dark ones.
