It will be a loooong time before we see a QC in Arlington and Boardman. I think we'll be lucky to see even one east of The Dalles. I think there have only been 15 or so Leafs sold over here.
While the stations may get more use from locals, I think The Powers That Be also need to factor in how many people from Portland head east as well...I go over there a few times a year, and I'm sure a small percentage of other leaf owners do too. However, even more important is that non-Leaf owners need to see that the cars are actually usable to get where they need to go so there will be fewer non-Leaf owners in the future...

Just received an email from [email protected] indicating that they will NOT be allowing charging. Sorry, wine lovers, please send your business elsewhere. Darn good wine too.
I have spoken to the powers that be and we will not be pursuing this.

Thank you,
Joe
Here was my email request:
Dear Maryhill:

Have you considered installing an electric vehicle (EV) charging station or exterior electrical plug at the winery? I have visited and purchased Maryhill wines several times in the past, but always driving a gasoline automobile. Recently, I purchased the 100% electric Nissan Leaf EV, which has a nominal highway range of 70-80 miles. I would like to visit your winery next spring/summer on my drive to the Portland area. However, I would need to charge for several hours (preferably 16 Amp, 240 V but alternatively 12 Amp, 120V) in order to reach the next nearest charging station in Hood River.

Installing a level 2 charging station would be an excellent PR and marketing tool for the winery. Many tourist destinations such as wineries have installed such stations. The use of such a station requires the EV driver to spend several hours (e.g., captive customer) nearby. In addition, many (if not all current) EV owners would be the perfect demographic for your winery. Your Portland/Vancouver customers now have easy access to Maryhill by stopping in Hood River and Cascade Locks and using the 100 Amp, 480 VDC Quick Charge Stations.

Please consider installing a level 2 station ($1000-$10,000) or an exterior 240 V electrical plug ($100-$500) and adding the station to the growing national network (http://www.plugshare.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). I should also mention that fully charging the Nissan Leaf only costs about $2.50 in electricity, less than the typical tasting fee, which is refunded with a purchase.

Thanks for your help. Please let me know if I will be able to drive electric next year. Thanks.

More information can be found at the Oregon and Washington electric highways websites.

nice letter but i think adding in pricing was a mistake. most would negate the option on that alone. should have made them investigate that on their own. the research they did might have helped push them over the hump.

either way, the bug is in the ear now. we should also send them correspondence asking them about the option. lets not let on that we know each other. cant hurt other than a 40 whatever cent stamp (is is still that low?)

Folks, I could use some help expanding charging stations in the Gorge, specifically the east side. As you can see from my previous post, I sent an email to the Maryhill Winery with less than positive results. However, I am continuing to pursue this with maureenL, who has been very helpful. I am hopeful that there will be a positive response soon. If anyone else is interested in helping, please feel to email and request a charging station or exterior 240 V receptacle. Alternatively, if anyone knows how/where to obtain funding assistance for L2 stations, I'd like to get that info as well. Thanks in advance.

I got an email from Mr. James. "We'll be putting one (AV L3) in at Fred Meyer in The Dalles this summer.  FYI"

It is AV in the first place. For the last 3 months Blink has a L3 at the Fred Meyer off the I5 and WA14 that has beed installed and looks ready to be powered up. They must have used parts to from it to bring the Oregon chargers on line ;) .

Has anyone else noticed a lot more Leafs on the roads lately? I saw 7 while out last night in the Beaverton/Tigard area (and one Black ThinkCity at CostCo) when I went to out to run a couple of errands. I could tell that at least two of the Leafs were 2013's.

where do you want them?? chance for input on some charging locations

I like how ODOT gave me the option to write anything I wanted about the proposed new QC locations. I feel very fortunate to be living in the West Coast Electric Highway corridor. AV has been great up until the Hood River QC was down for a month due to a part that had to be replaced. A long, long time ago, when I used to visit these businesses they call gas stations, I can't remember any gas pumps being broken for a month before they were fixed. Overall, I have been much more pleased with AV compared to the "other one" and am glad that they are the vendor for the West Coast Electric Highway.

ya ok. i can remember some gas station pumps being out of service for pretty lengthy periods of time but easy to forget those kinds of things when you simply spent 20 seconds to move over to one of the other 11 pumps that did work...

i wish WA would have been so nice as to ask us our opinion. For the most part, i think most of the AV stations are positioned well enough but then again, most are in a small enclaves surrounded by a lot of nothingness so selection options were limited.

Are there any plans for an additional QC on 26 beween Banks and Cannon Beach? Is the trip doable right now leaving Banks at 80%?

I hope everybody in Oregon will join us July 2, 2013 at 9am for the Grants Pass Stage Overnight Point of BC2BC-2013:

Hi, new to the forum and hoping to get into a Leaf soon, but looking for the help of the members here to see if the numbers I'm getting are a decent deal. Already posted this in the Leasing section, but thought I'd try local as well.

State: Oregon
Sales tax %: 0%
Leaf Trim, options: 2013 SL w/Premium Package
MSRP: $36910
Invoice: $34864
Negotiated Price: $34500 - $7500 rebate = $27000
Taxes, Title, Registration: approx. $200
Money Factor: .00179 (supposedly top tier)
Downpayment: $0 / $1000 / $2000
Monthly payment: $340 / $296 / $252
Term: 24 months
Mileage: 12,000 miles/year

I tried searching through some of the recent pages looking for any info on members leasing in Oregon but nothing really comes up, and there aren't many SLs to compare to either. The two dealerships I've received quotes from are within $20/month on their quotes, does this seem like a reasonable deal?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Erik,

I haven't followed the lease prices that closely, but the price shouldn't be any higher than what's shown here:

Hello Oregon Leaf drivers. Just picked up my 2013 SV today at Beaverton Nissan, and will be driving it back and forth from Portland to Salem to Portland for my work commute. Wondering who else out there might be driving a Leaf to Salem every day, and any advice on favorite public charging stations.
