Time for another San Diego Gathering???

For just a meet & greet we could use the Fashion Valley Parking Lot just off Friars Road. Security opens up the lot at 9am, but will open any time if we call them. Since all the EVSE's would be available for those that need them, we could gather at 8am and have the parking lot to ourselves.

Besides just getting to know one another, it could be a planning session, deciding what we would want to do, maybe on a monthly basis. Since there are so many more EV owners now, it may make better use of our driving time to have alternating gatherings, south San Diego county, then North San Diego county.

Another thought would be to send an email invitation to the Sales managers at all dealers that sell EV's for them to forward to all their EV owner customers. We could also let all the media know of our event and maybe some of them will announce it and then cover it. Since we would be there before customers arrive, we could get a lot done prior to the public arriving. If we wanted to do more with the public, then those that could stay longer could shift into the public relations mode.

Just my thoughts, but we would like to join a M&G with other EV drivers. We have been unavailable to attend any meeting of the EVAOSD due to scheduling conflicts.

Even though we are not able to go inside to eat (special diet for next 4 weeks) we plan to be there a little early and meet those attending from the outside. I will be ssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooo hungry smelling all the food that I can not eat. So far we are loosing almost one pound per day so we are happy with the diet, and once we complete the program we should be able to go back to eating and still keep it off. We shall see.....

Hope to see many of you in two days.

Please go to this thread for Orange County meeting dates.

I am planning on joining the San Diego group this coming Saturday
at the Hometown Buffet in Oceanside, NW of College and 76.

Is the QC at Oceanside Nissan still working, and still just require
activation by the dealer staff?
I plan on charging before or after the meeting.

Does anybody need an Android smartphone and OBD dongle
to use the LeafSpy app with their LEAF?

I plan to bring the 3D printed QC plugs and socket to show...
anything else?

Gary and everyone else, please stay aware of current road and fire conditions. That area has been hit hard by the recent fires, and this event is coming up very soon.

Sorry to miss this conveniently "northerly" location of the San Diego
group. The fires around Oceanside might have kept me from making it,
but I was keeping the option open, until I discovered, late Friday night,
that my LEAF would not charge, and was down at about 35% Gids.

A circuit breaker failed in the open condition, even when switched to closed,
opening one side if my dual-120v to 240v charging arrangement: the two 20 amp breakers
ganged together with a link-bar over their switch ends, which feeds a double-duplex
socket in the laundry room.
One 120v circuit is shared by the washing machine and the EVSE.
I believe that both were going on a very hot (100 degree F) day.

After the breaker went bad...
The EVSE would "fault" within less than one second after plugging into the LEAF.
The LeafSpy Pro android app found no DTC (trouble codes) in the car.

I was dreading taking my Maple LEAF in for service, thinking that it might be
gone for a week or more if a new onboard charger was needed. Fortunately,
I discovered the real problem, the breaker, and replaced the defective part.

I am very relieved to be happily charging again, but sorry to have
missed the meeting at the HTB East of Oceanside. Maybe you will
try having another meeting there.

For those who went and ate, how was the HTB food at that location?
And the air conditioning?

Glad to hear your car is up and running again. There aren't any fires in the area of this Hometown Buffet. Food was just like every other HTB, I presume. It looks the same to me. It wasn't very hot that day, so I don't know how well the air conditioning might work.

We did have a BMW i3 and a Fiat 500e (which drove down from north Orange County!).
