I'm sorry, but I would put that mishap square on the shoulders of Apple's autocorrect feature in Safari. I specifically copied the poster's nick, but since I was naive enough to capitalize the first letter, autocorrect butted in and made it much worse.eclecticflower said:Who could tell by that moniker? :lol:mwalsh said:eclecticflower said:I don't think he'll like being called Heinous :? Very interesting! I am now showing 11 capacity bars where before I had 10! We'll see what an overnight 100% charge brings...
Wait, don't you have a '13 Leaf? If so, I don't think the update is applicable to the '13 . IIRC from the Phoenix Andy Palmer town hall meeting, the '13 already has the changes (that are being made to the '11s and '12s).hieuous said:i made my appointment for tomorrow to get reflashed!
no i unfortunately have a '11 with 28000 miles for 15,368. i recognize my mistake now. but i thought i was safe being as it has all 12 bars. oh well, i'm stuck with it and other than the range issue i LOOOOOVE this car. it's so cute.cwerdna said:Wait, don't you have a '13 Leaf? As a side note, I think I recall meeting a female in the Bay Area named Hieu, ages ago. It's a Vietnamese name.

Oh... Hmm, it might help to indicate your model year in your signature (along w/that you bought it used). Do you know what month the car was built in? I think the build month and year should be on a sticker on the driver's side.hieuous said:no i unfortunately have a '11 with 28000 miles for 15,368. i recognize my mistake now. but i thought i was safe being as it has all 12 bars. oh well, i'm stuck with it and other than the range issue i LOOOOOVE this car. it's so cute.
i have never met any other girl named hieu. it's always guys. and yea i'm vietnamese. yayyy
If you look at the gain in Gids TomT reported, the range loss due to LBC programming and other errors would be on the order of about 5%. Additionally, Nissan's own testing in Casa Grande has indicated that one of the Phoenix LEAFs (Red500), which lost three capacity bars, was experiencing 16% degradation based on their lab test. Tony's range test determined 17.5% range loss for this particular vehicle.Ingineer said:I contended that the LBC was artificially limiting the use of the slightly degraded pack in a way that drastically reduced range over the actual degradation.
Let's hope I am indeed correct and that this restores some lost autonomy in people's LEAFs with some degradation.

You sure you have all 12 capacity bars? To be clear, we're talking about the thin bars all the way on the right side. See http://www.mynissanleaf.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:Scott_3_bars_s.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for a 3 bar loser. If you still have all of them, I suspect you're on the cusp of losing 1 soon (can be confirmed via a gidmeter). I wouldn't be surprised if you lose 2 capacity bars by end of September 2013.
Hieu, you might be better off getting this: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=278726" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;hieuous said:where can i get a gid meter? i want to start getting into all of this now...and yea, i'm pretty sure i'm about to lose one. i wouldn't be surprised.

Turbo3 lives near me.
If you have an Android device/phone, http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=12098" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I think is a MUCH cheaper solution. I believe some folks are buying cheapo $40 Virgin Mobile Android phones to use w/this (don't need active service to use this).
It would actually be more interesting to get gid readings at 100% charge BEFORE you get the update and after, to see if there's a change. If you're going to do this, perhaps postpone your update? I think that might be prudent anyways I highly doubt the update will improve your range or anything.

Cool. There's discussion of the data from that app at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=12789" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
I would probably get an extension cable as advised at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=301738#p301738" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as I wouldn't want to wear out the car's OBD2 connector by putting too many cycles on it. I also believe (I don't follow closely as I don't have a Leaf yet) that the Bluetooth adapter they're using is unfortunately continually powered even if the car is off, so leaving it on the car could eventually deplete the 12 volt if left attached for too long.
Someone chime in if I'm wrong.
This is the first I have heard about the software update. I haven't received any notification. How did you know about it?TomT said:I needed to get a couple of others things done so had the campaign for the capacity gauge reprogram done at the same time today...
