Oh that's great, just like another "Exxon". They delayed and delayed, saved 5 billion over 20 years, with that 5 billion, they made another 25 billion, when the people's lives who where disrupted should have been paid. Many commited suicide because things got so bad...

Not that I had any doubt, but the US should seize all of their US Based assets, let BP fight the US government, let's see how far they get with that mr lawyer.

So I'm watching this CNBC show "America's Crude Realities", a little documentary/opinion special on where things could be headed with future oil supply and related issues, concerns over supply, carbon emissions, efficiency, geopolitical problems, security, etc. Lots of things to worry about. Then towards the end of the show this commercial runs:

I particularly liked the "Mark of Leadership" slogan at the end.

Speaking of youtube videos, here's one worth considering. I'm not endorsing its accuracy and certainly not the salty language, which is unnecessary to make the narrator's point IMO, but I can't edit it out. PG-13 (L) Not suitable for young children.

Booming

This was discussed earlier. See this original post and follow from there. evnow posted this on May 23rd in the old thread titled "gulf oil spill worse than initially reported". It is also a slightly better video, but the same filthy section in the middle.

I think the goal of the video is to go viral, not necessarily provide accurate info. According to docs apparently used by the State of Alaska, the type of booming covered in the video appears valid but doesn't appear to be effective for shorelines.

The oil flow into the Gulf has stopped for the first time in 12 weeks.

NOW top kill the bloody well!

Clean up the mess and learn from the experience.

This story will permanently fall below the fold in a couple days.

All's well that ends well :)

On TOD that was the speculation on why they are even trying this ...

48 hours before we can be sure it is holding up.

Let's hope the well casing holds together, and we don't end up with 10,000 small oil leaks on the sea floor.

The relief well is still going to be needed for a permanent solution.

Though this is a "hind sight is 20/20" comment - I wonder why it took them 85 days to figure out how to cap this. I can understand that new "cap" must have taken a lot of time to design and fabricate ... still.

The pressure being measured is 6700 psi. Nothing conclusive - whether there is leak or not. This is not good news.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. A lot of alarmists and conspiracy theorists.

There's a lot of people disappointed to see it ending because the disaster was tailor made for their agenda.

I guess we shouldn't believe everything we hear from teabaggers either, then... :?

Sorry... unfortunately, you're right, and it's probably not all politically motivated. It's sad to think that there are people that would want something like this, though.

Ofcourse - but I know on TOD who I can beleive. Essentially the pressure they are getting is inconclusive. 9K or more would have been good news. Govt set a low bound of 6K.

Anyway something I'm sure they are all looking at now ...

Don Van Nieuwenhuise, Director of the Professional Geoscience Programs at the University of Houston is calling 7,000 PSI close enough due to 'deflation'.

Gibbs: BP's ruptured oil well leaking from top

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38304846/

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38313173

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday afternoon the seepage was about two miles from the well head.

The latest I heard was that the seepage was unrelated:

Yes - http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/677-e2-wire/109641-thad-allen-says-seepage-not-a-problem-allows-tests-to-continue-on-bps-capped-well

But there are two more anomolies ... apparently some hydrates are forming under the cap. Looks to me the best thing is to produce the well until killed (unless a hurrican is on the way).

Allen said there are “anomalies” much closer to the wellhead, including some leakage in the “capping stack” that’s keeping the gusher contained, and bubbles around the base of the well’s blowout preventer that failed in the April 20 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig.

Why does BP put photoshopped images to showcase their response ?
