Is this thread still alive? Right now http://www.chademo.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; says:
The number of CHAdeMO DC Quick chargers installed up to today is 4241.

Yes, and I have updated the title.
There have been changes to the two sources I used 2+ years ago, when the thread started.
CHAdeMO now is displaying plugshare (North American) results (pre-filtered) at its site.
Direct link:
http://www.chademo.com/wp/usmap/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And someone at plugshare or CHAdeMO seems to have weeded
most of the false CHAdeMO reports that used to plague plugshare. At least there are none I am aware of in Central and Northern CA, though permanently non-functional sites (Fairfield) are still shown.
The AFDC map now lists Tesla sites, with no way (?) to filter, so its pretty much useless.

I suppose it's technically still alive, but really, how many people care about the number of chargers of any given type on another continent that they'll never use?...
Well, the fact that today there is one world-wide DC charging standard infrastructure open to all Vehicle manufactures and EV drivers, just might be of interest to some...
Japan site map here:

And Europe and the rest of the world map here:

FWIW, Tesla's Sc count has almost certainy passed the CHAdeMo count in the U.S. now, as they're up to 748 as of Friday...
Unfortunately, useless to all but drivers of Tesla S (and its derivatives).

Just for completeness, there are now 19 CCS listed on Plugshare in California including 11 in SoCal, although some of them are still 'coming soon'; when will people stop posting these?
Without a significant paying customer base, due to the tiny number of CCS capable vehicles planned for sale in the USA, I don't see a likely path for CCS to move beyond the current government mandates, subsidies, and private charitable efforts (well done, KIA) on a path to a dependable nationwide infrastructure.
