    I want my 281!

Hi y'all. First post in about a year, I recon. I had my 281 back when my LEAF was new, and wrote about it extensively. Today, after 24,000 miles and two years, I max out at 233. That's 83% of original capacity. Every morning my LEAF promises about 89 miles, and gets Low Battery after around...

Andy Palmer and Chelsea Sexton Discuss the Nissan LEAF

I haven't Accepted for most of 2012. It's easier (and cleaner on the screen) to hit the Map button instead. Nissan can have my Carwings data when they give me a way to skip this query; simple as that.

LEAFSCAN™ - The Ultimate Instrument for your LEAF!

There's a valid point in there about concept shelf-life, though. Like many of us, I'm halfway through my LEAF Lease. With the battery degradation and all, it's not likely I'll keep this car for residual cost. While I remain enthusiastic about the LEAFSCAN, it's probably not the right purchase...

Boards for lincomatic's open source "LeafCAN"

I've been happy with that same right-angle extension cable. Keeps it out of the way and unseen, with the cable run to the passenger side. I'd love to have some audible indication of Wh/mile (burn rate), but can't think of a way to do it that wouldn't get quickly annoying. A sound for...

    The Anatomy of a Gid

Ahem. First publication on MNL of behavior of EV-CAN msg 0x5BC that I could find: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=4131&start=30#p98570" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I know I would have spend less time looking for it if someone else had published it first. :)

SOC-Meter User Guide and Firmware Updates

Sounds promising! What are the CANbus message bytes and interpretation for "Real SOC"? I've looked, but can't find a thread in Engineering that describes it.

Open Letter from Nissan, September 22, 2012

The "Lease vs Own" split has to be the most prominent. As a lease-holder, I'm pretty much tuned out.. content to see how the chips fall after three years and decide from there. IF I was an owner, I'd be much more interested because it impacts the 'when do I sell' reasoning. I learned my lesson...

LEAFSCAN™ - The Ultimate Instrument for your LEAF!

I want one! Name your price. I don't know how Kickstarter works on the vendor end, but others have used it with success to gauge interest and pre-fund manufacturing. Maybe it's a fit here.

New Anxiety? - Charger Availability ?

I have as well. There are two chargers at work, and five EVs. It's a crapshoot whether I get dibs or not, so coming back on "---" is exciting. So far, I've been able to locate an owner and get some juice, but yeah.. Charger Anxiety. I try to avoid it by packing enough to get home, but...

    Shifter Light

Oh. Yeah, that. ;) I have an amber "shifter illumination" in the headliner. I'm certain it was designed by the same genius that selected the steering-wheel button illumination.

    Shifter Light

You should already have one. They come standard with the car.

Next San Diego EVent: Sat, Aug 9, 2014, CANCELLED

I'm not sure I understand how Demand Charges work on a large-scale facility. For example, Legoland in Carlsbad. Their power footprint must be enormous for one address, with variations throughout the day. It seems like they could add a 50kW load with just minimal management (maybe throttling...

Shop refused to rotate tires at 8K miles!

That's what I'm thinking. Either rotate very often, or not at all. The wear seems to be "normal" for a hard-driven city car, so I can either let the fronts wear to nothing by themselves, or rotate often enough to spread the wear. Since it's a lease car, the situation is even more interesting...

Shop refused to rotate tires at 8K miles!

Correct! I had it backwards. They claim that cars are more likely to spin under duress if the reduced tread is in the back. I took more as "you should rotate your tires very often", in an effort to keep the wear almost identical. ie, you should come into Discount Tire monthly and let us tell...
