The above link is to a piece saying that J.D. Power now ranks the Leaf as 'Very Reliable.' I hate un-described links.

Leaf being offered at 99 Euros a month. Excited to see them aggressively price the leaf.

Whatcar, now is pushing the Leaf, where I thought they were not so keen .

Thanks for this link confirming Leaf sales are up due to Nissan dumping of the 40 kWh Leafs with lease rates of $111 per month. I was concerned this was the case when sales numbers increased. Yes they are moving some inventory at these huge discount rates but longer term it dooms Nissan's EV future. A lot of people can swing a $1,332.00 a year new car lease but I am sure there are other associated costs like insurance.

Nissan did this in 2013, and it didn't doom their EV future. It boosted sales of the Leaf, and Nissan then failed to act on that advantage. I leased a new 2013 SV with Premium (no QC) for $1999 down and $149 a month. That two year lease lasted me 5 years. ;)

Dang! My 2013 SV with the options packages was $191 with 2K down. I should have negotiated better.

I was wilting in 90+F heat and they feared I would die in their dealership, I think. That clinched me the great deal.

After gas savings, registration savings, no oil changes, etc... that car truly felt free.

I then got three extensions on the 2 year lease of one year each. I had to pay $10 more a month in state tax, but yeah, it did not feel like paying for a $35k car. I then had the opportunity to buy her for $5k, but I didn't. So I ended up turning "ANA" in to lease my 2018. With zero warranty left and a range of less than 70 miles even in Summer, it was hard but necessary. Now I wish we'd bought the car to replace the PIP...

Now I feel even worse. After our 2 year Lease we extenddd one year and they threw in 2 free payments, no increases, so the deal felt even better.
We bought it off of Lease after year 3 for 8K under residual, which was still 11 and change and some taxes. We would have faced some charges if we didn’t buy it as it had had some body damage (repaired, but not perfect) and replaced rear bumper. Ram it for 3 or so more years.

We traded it in for the Leaf Plus SV last summer. Still loved the old Leaf and it could still do 80 honest miles in summer. Kids miss the car still l. Winter was less range. After the super freeze of Jan 2019 in Chicago the car only managed about 35 miles at -25, which still got me downtown and back, but not with much to spare, so we took the plunge.

The range of the Car plus is such a luxury. Even at 20% battery it’s hardly a thought in terms of range anxiety. But, at 31K doesn’t feel free like the last Leaf. Part of it is that face that our petro bill was already almost gone (a few tanks a year for the minivan), so no offset for the payment. Now Illinois has a 100 dollar surcharge for EVs, so that reduced part of the gain as well.
