Our next LEAF Gathering is this coming Saturday,
in Santa Ana, at the Hometown Buffet on 17th street,
just 2 blocks East of I-5.

I intend to be there at 8 AM, and stay at least until 11.

I will bring my Arduino Due project, which now runs a
very crude battery charger simulation, sends the log
data to CAN-Do, and shows the last 45 to 80 seconds
of the charger volts, amps, PWM, and Requested
volts or amps data as an on-screen graph.

If you need me to bring anything else, please post here.
If you are unable to join us, please have a good, and safe
Thanksgiving holiday.

My best wishes to you all, Gary

LEAF Gathering this coming Saturday, 23 Nov 2013.
Yes, Dori, in Santa Ana this time. :D

Robert is planning to ride with me.

I will bring my Arduino Due charger-simulator project.
It now has an on-screen scrolling graph of the
charger's recent history data to aid in debugging,
testing, and the comprehension of the simulated
"charging" process.

I suspect that Tom and Robert will want to chat.

Blessings upon you all in your Thanking-Time,
you all have given me so very much during
the last several planetary orbits. :p

It really demonstrates to us that some of you
in this strangely complex air-breathing
species are truly worth saving... :D
even if you do try to communicate
out of one end of your feeding pipe.

Sad to say, some Others we observe
appear to be not so much worth saving. :(

Sea ewe Sater-Day,
the one you call "Gary" :D

I plan to join. Looking forward to seeing your Arduino creation and Boomer's i3 report.
Gee, I don't have much to contribute....there's a nice app (VisibleTesla) someone wrote for the Model S to monitor and control all manner of things. Maybe I'll demo that for anyone interested.

Great, looking forward to seeing you sparky.

Jeremy,
Thanks, too often we forget all of those who labor
long hours day in and night out...
to provide the basics: food, water, and electricity.

Thanks for taking case of us, and we will miss you.
Sincerely, Gary

Today , Wednesday, was "T" Day. I took the Fremont factory tour with 3 guests. 5 owners and their guests were on our morning tram tour. Lots of impressive Kuka robots. Three-story Schuler press for major Al body parts had 5 stages, with Kuka robots moving stamped parts between stages. Dies for press weighing up to 16 tons are changed throughout the day to make enough stampings of each type for one day's production. Smart carts carried each car chassis from station to station, following magnetic strips in floor. If problem with one vehicle detected, its cart can be moved out of sequence to avoid holding up the assembly line. Lots of subassembly lines feeding the main assembly line. Mood on factory floor was relaxed, but productive. Some completed motors visible, but main assembly of drive train and batteries, secret sauce, was on 2nd floor, off-limits to tour.

Car quite awesome, as expected. 300 Wh/mile for 20 mile drive to my cousin's house, where I wii spend thanksgiving. Relaxed Drive home next week, staying overnight at Oaks Hotel in Paso Robles and Pepper Tree Inn in Santa Barbara. Wishing all of you a very happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you for the report, tbleakne, I was thinking about you just now on my bike ride. One of us must be clairvoyant. ;)

You must be having such fun. Well deserved, I'd say. Enjoy your holiday, your family visit and your relaxed drive home.

So we evolve from strangers rushing in a few minutes of April
2010 to make refundable reservations to be in line to order
an imaginary all-Electric Vehicle, to a family of caring friends,
one pedaling an electric-assist bicycle thinking of another
taking delivery of an 80-edi (kWH) T-mobile and finishing
a first drive at about 3.3 mpe (approximately a 250 mile
range).

Standing together watching cars being off-loaded like
a stream of ants from a huge car-carrier vessel in
Long Beach harbor, until the noon whistle blew.

Finally, the quiet rush of driving our own All-Electric vehicles,
and then gradually not even noticing the price of gasoline
anymore as we passed the many corners with two, or even
three petroleum fueling stations.

Sharing stories of body parts, dented, defective, repaired,
and removed, even our wonderful, caring, supportive LEAF
Gathering is evolving to encompass much more powerful
creations, and concepts.

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you all, even if we have
not seen you recently.
Sincerely, Gary

Characteristically poetic, Gary. Thanks.

And Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Congrats tbleakne!
Looking forward to seeing your new red electric ride at one of our gatherings.
Thanks Gary, for being a major maven for the SoCal folks.
I am back in Vermont with family this TG.
Snow on the ground, windy and 22 F this morning.
Big gas stove is acting up as we all try to cook.... a different kind of "range anxiety".
Happy Thanksgiving.

Yesterday I completed 1st leg of drive home with new red EV, Atherton to Paso Robles, 170 miles. Day started with navigation refusing it initialize, but quick call to Roadside Assistance walked me through re-boot, which was successful.

New Gilroy Supercharger stalls not yet operational, but I was able to snag a few minutes of charge I didn't really need on one of the 4 original chargers after waiting only a couple of minutes. Two families approached me and asked the usual questions.

On smooth level no wind section of US 101 with 70 mph limit I measured .30 kWh/mile, 3.3 miles/kWh at 67-68 mph, better than I expected, with Primacy 19" tires at 46 psi. Boomer23 reports that mileage on his Primacy tires improved after break-in.

Oaks Hotel in Paso Robles very nice and friendly as reported by Sparky. Signature Red plugged into other 14-50 right next to me. Hotel also has 4 J1772s. Overnight temps here in mid 30s, so I adjusted charge current downward so battery pack would charge and stay warm all night. This morning I activated cabin preheat from App. App reports interior cabin temperature, so I can confirm warming.

Today I hope to try 70A Clipper Creek charger in San Luis Obispo using my dual chargers.

Signature red couple doing their 2nd British Columbia to Rancho Mirage CA trip. They try to get charge at each motel stop and use SC only when necessary.
