I think I'm staying overnight at my mom's house in south OC on the 8th and going to Tony's meeting on the 9th. :| Mike, I think about your commute situation a lot- wish I could be there to chat with you in person about it.

Oops,
This coming Saturday morning, all EV-interested folks
are invited to join us (at our LEAF Gathering) for breakfast
at the Hometown Buffet in Cerritos, about 2 blocks East
of 605, in the shopping area just north of South Street.

On Saturday the 23rd of November, we will meet
at the Hometown Buffet on 17th Street in Santa Ana,
just 2 blocks East of I-5 freeway.

I should have a trial hearing aid with me. They said the
right ear is mostly hopeless - they feel that it distorts
increased sound levels. It will be interesting to try
this Audibel A2 mini RIC (Receiver [speaker] in
[the ear] Canal) device, at least in the left ear.

I will bring my latest Arduino Due Sketch for controlling
charging operations, which still needs a lot of work.

It appears that one of our members will have a silver
2011 LEAF SL with QC port for sale in December.

Soon we will be able to celebrate the arrival of
another Tesla to our group.

JasonA has been sick, so send your best wishes his way.

Yes, in Cerritos, not Santa Ana this coming Saturday.

I corrected my previous post, Thanks. :D

Sorry to mislead Dori again. :?

I hope this doesn't get worse if I get old.
I forget, am I already old?
Forgot what?

Remember the event in Temecula this coming Saturday,
from 10 AM to 1 PM. There might be good opportunities
for LEAF-frogging to get there and back.

See the Thread for that event.

JasonA,
Bring your Due toys and displays, if possible.
I will bring my Due toys also, with my PC and latest Sketch.
Incentive... I have 2 small presents for you.
I will plan to stay a bit longer explaining Arduino
programming, if any are interested.

Perhaps, if desired, we could even "workshop"
somewhere nearby... we shall see she sells sea shells.

Although we will not have the equipment to Log the RAV4EV
after this meeting, we still hope to be able to do that in the
fairly near future. Sorry.

Dori, the Gathering is in Cerritos this Saturday. ;)

Looking forward to seeing you all.
Cheers, Gary

I'll bring all my stuff.. and my latest home brewed Ah/watt display that I'm still converting over to Audrino..

See all of you there Sat morn...

When the directions get THIS SPECIFIC, I guess I'd better show up! Fortunately Planting Day's been moved to next Saturday, so I will be there!

I would offer up the warehouse for an apre-mtng workshop too IF I can get to and back from Pasadena in time to do so. (And what's this about seashells?}

The HTB here in Cerritos is closed this morning.... so plan to meet here and then we'll go to an alternate place.

They are having plumbing issues this morning and there's no ETA

EDIT We are all meeting at the Hometown down the street at 4700 Candlewood St. Lakewood CA

The lady standing up front here will even know to direct Leaf'ers to the new HTB

Well, I arrived in Cerritos early, and went to Cerritos Nissan
to ask if they would let me use their QC for 15 minutes.

The charging parking spaces were all... empty, and I parked in
the no-parking (cross-hatched) space right in front of the QC
machine. Getting out, my feet were barely on the ground
when a nice man appeared with their "tab" to activate the
charger. He even raised the unlocked charging port hatch,
opened the QC cover, and inserted the QC "nozzle" (plug)
into the car's QC socket.

I attempted to amuse him with the GID-Meter, and then
the LEAF Spy Pro Android app. Before I got to the Pro features,
Allen called telling me that the Cerritos Hometown Buffet was
closed for the morning, since they had no water supply.

I disconnected, thanked the guy for the wonderfully
helpful charging service, and he thanked me for sharing
our technology with him.

A few minutes later, I arrived at HTB, and found a couple
of others waiting. Using the LEAF's Nav system, I discovered
another Hometown Buffet just 3 miles away, to the West.

I had the Nav system call them, and they were indeed open.
Since the nearby eating places were either closed, or did
not generate any significant enthusiasm, I posted a note
telling other LEAFers where to go, and we left for the other
HTB, in Lakewood.

Poor Dori, it seems that events conspire to make it a
challenge for her to join us... but she did. :D

About 9 bodies, and an impressive line of LEAFs in the
huge parking lot, and discussions of Arduino Due
Sketch programming, Tesla, and Medicare Advantage
or Supplement plans and choices. Also, it seems to me
that much more than an appropriate share of LEAFs
are getting crashed, and then totaled.

In any case, a very nice Gathering, but it will be good
to get back to the HTB in Cerritos, since they have
peanut butter, and a hot fudge dispenser that works.
Remember, it is all about the priorities.

Thanks to all who all who attended, especially those
who came a great distance, and those who had to
drive gasoline-sucker vehicles.

Cheers, Gary

Next Gathering is in Santa Ana, at the Hometown Buffet on
17th Street, just 2 blocks East of I-5, on Saturday 23 Nov.

Hopefully, I will make substantial progress on my Due
Sketch by then, and have the charger-control simulation
working, including logging of the "sim" data.

Cheers, Gary

There are 2 more vehicles missing in the pic (well 3 including Phil).. EDIT.. I found a better pic.. Gary was there! Just Butch is not shown

Last night in my garage I set the charge limit to get a partial charge, saved settings, exited the car, and plugged in.
I forgot one itty-bitty step. This morning when I checked the car I found it still on. This meant no timed charge took place, and the charge had drained down to a level below LBW. Fortunately I had no trips planned this AM and I had plenty of time to charge back to 7 bars before Peak SCE billing rate began at 10 AM. So lame.
