I did a quick forum search and didn't see anyone asking about this - it may be a really silly question but I'll risk that:
Has anyone tried covering the outside of the underbody panel beneath the main battery with silver heat-reflective tape? Since pavement temperature - especially asphalt - is higher than the air temperature, mightn't this help protect the battery from radiative heat gain as the car drives over hot pavement?
Seems like this'd be fairly straightforward to try. Anyone in, say, Phoenix with access to the battery temp sensors willing to try this?
