1 Don't see where this can be outfitted into my 2011 leaf just DIY
2. If I am attempting to buy a battery, what other parts would needed in addition to the battery pack itself, thanks!

You need an adapter kit to go with a pack from a post-'12 Leaf. You definitely don't want a pack from an '11 or '12 (or from an early '13), so the kit will be required. This isn't my area of expertise, but I seem to recall issues with later packs that go beyond just needing the kit. IIRC, they also need a CAN bridge to translate communications between the car and the battery.

What year did it come from? You want to put it in a 2011?

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10171223-0001.pdf near the end has all the part numbers for packs the dealer would need to order depending on what Leaf was brought in. Also notice the flow chart on page 2.

Although the timeframes at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpgv-dY-q6M are a bit off from what we got in the US, it illustrates posible differences. If you want to skip ahead, skip to ~2:12.

If it's an original pack from a Leaf built before 4/2013, the chemistry and pack sucks from degradation POV. Can't see how it's really worth much $.

oh ok got it, thanks I do have an appointment at nissan tomorrow to do a courtesy battery inspection, several weeks ago I talked to a guy in parts and he said a 24kw pack would be about 8k without looking it up, sounded like he was just trying to get me off the phone

Battery capacity is measured in kWh, not "kw".

I wouldn't doubt that a replacement pack is $8000 including tax and labor. My guess is the absolute floor would be $5724 (https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17168) + labor, keeping in mind that was a 2014 price. My wild guess is at least 1.5 to 3 hours of labor. I haven't followed people's stories of paying for replacements, but a few have done it.
