One company that has been making leather seat skins for dealers to put on new cars is Katzkin. http://www.katzkin.com/
There are many dealers who install Katzkin and there is a dealer finder on the web page. Katzkin has the pattern for the Leaf.

I found one on line outfit for do it yourselfers like me. http://www.autoseatskins.com/katzkin-leather-upholstery-s/502.htm
They do have the Nissan Leaf pattern available and the color sample booklet is amazing.

I drove my Leaf up to Skyline Seating in Westminster, CA this morning, for leather installation. It's 92mi from my house, so I stopped on the way for a bit of extra juice.

The owner, Tony Dang, seems like a super individual; his shop looks top-notch; He is doing mine in two-tone, with double-stitching at no extra cost. He said he has done several Leafs so far. I expect to pick it up on Wed or Thu; and I'll post some photos. I went with dark grey/black seating area/black double stitching.

Don't forget to post some pictures!

The pics are great but I've seen few posts indicating cost. The katzkin ones are $2,000 I believe, which is just too expensive IMO. I settled for leatherette seat covers from FH Group:

FH website - leatherette

For $70 it's much more reasonable, but these are NOT custom made for the Leaf and they look like covers, not reupholstery. They are a bit baggy here and there. I got the gray. It's better tactile feel than the Leaf's fabric and it's better for preventing or hiding soil. They have also stopped the static electric shocks. I didn't bother to put on the rear bench seat cover, although it's included in the kit. The gray is just a little bit darker than the gray on the top of the dash, but looks coordinated.

Rat, Skyline is $1000 out the door. Katzkin, I've seen quoted anywhere from $1000 to $1200. Unless you get them through a new car dealer, in which case I've seen quotes as high as $2500. But then, none of us are dumb enough to do that, right?

Skyline just called; mine is all done. Tony hooked up my 120V charging dock for overnight charging, so I'll have 100% charge when I pick it up tomorrow. He said it looks "outstanding".

$1k cash out the door. I'll post photos tomorrow or Thu.

Glad to know that's available where you are. The only shop I could find around here that does leather told me "at least" $1800 and he'd never seen a Leaf before, plus I wasn't communicating with him through his daughter since he spoke only Spanish. His work looked good but I had no confidence we were on the same page and it was too expensive anyway. I'll keep waiting for someone in the South Bay to find a better place, but I'm happy enough with the FH for now.

Looking forward to the full report on the leather, and also on the commute! Sounds like you may have hit the jackpot! :)

Rat, if you PM me I have a contact that was provided to me by my dealership. They have worked with this leather installer and recommends them. I was told it would cost around $900 all up. But, I must say, I haven't called them personally. IIRC, they are based in Hayward.

Well, the Leaf is back in the garage; and here are some photos of the leather:

I hope these pictures post correctly; I am definitely technologically challenged, and not a photographer. I'll add my trip highlights on a subsequent post.

Ooh! Contrasting inserts look nice!

Well, I see that my pictures posted. Wonders never cease! Remember that I am a technically-challenged old fart.

Anyway, I am absolutely pleased with Skyline Seating in Westminster, and their work. Tony Dang is the proprietor, and he did everything exactly as he said he would, and actually had the car ready one day early, fully charged up to 100% overnight with my trunk trickle charger. The quality of the materials/installation are significantly superior to our Prius, which has the factory-installed leather option. The result is a completely different car when you're sitting inside. I gladly peeled off 10-$100 bills and left for my 92mile trip back to San Diego. I could probably have made it non-stop, since it was cool along the beach (no air conditioning); but, why bring on angst, right? So, I stopped @ Oceanside Mossy Nissan for a bit of "juice". Those folks are really nice, and were pleased to have me stop by. I passed the time there "drooling" all over a red GTR in their showroom. They have a white "orphan" Leaf for sale, (someone cancelled yesterday) but at "significantly" more than MSRP, I was told.
BTW, I averaged around 4.7mi per KWH on the 190mi round trip, virtually all freeways; and I pretty much stayed with the traffic. Got a few Thumbs up, too. I'm like a baby with a new toy, and am glad I've lived long enough to be able to drive a machine like this. Life is GOOOOOD! :D :D

Whoa! nice driving there, Derkraut. If by "stayed with the traffic" you mean 60mph or above, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Well, to be honest, there were several "pockets" of 30-40mph in the Orange County area as usual---which helped my power consumption. But, whenever able, I cruised at around 60+, without air.

Yep, same here, and there are probably more interested - someone could make a bundle in the Bay Area...

+1

I'd spend $1,000 for leather in the bay area (South bay hopefully). All I've seen here is a couple of posts about an unnamed guy who just spoke Spanish. That doesn't bother me too much as long as his work is excellent.
