How did my marker end up in the Pacific Ocean? Moved it back to its rightful place ttweed also got lost in the ocean off the coast of California. As nice and convenient as it is to have the map publicly editable, there's gotta be a better way...

I can think of two, but I am not sure either are worth it since once people start getting their cars this map will start to lose its usefullness. One is to lock it down and have one person be the keeper of it. But that is a lot of work for that one person. The other would be to design a website that does the same thing - allow people to submit, but the site does the adding (or keeps the info in a database and uses that data to dynamically feed into a google map).

I don't think the map will lose its usefulness. You might want to do an extended tour and wonder if another LEAF owner might be nearby to visit or charge. You could PM him/her in advance.

That was freaky! Looks like Google has confused the real map with a false mirror image; everything's back to normal now except the title.

Okay, calm now. I was just thinking we need a new pin for the folks that have actually received their LEAFs; I like the blue Taxi icon, though I wish it looked like a LEAF. Anyone want to try and come up with a custom pin?

The pin colors look reasonable to me - lots of greens.

HIOjim, just stick with the green pin (with a dot) to show you've RAQ'd but not received. If someone wants to create a new map as I did during the RAQ phase, I've no problem with that as that's what I did to EV-Now months ago.

But I do think it's time for a new icon; something like this:

The thing is, that's a JPG and we need a PNG and a PNG with all the white removed and turned onto the Alpha Channel. Anyone think they can do this and post it in a public place where we can use for the LEAF owners?

Can MS-Paint open JPG and save back as PNG ?

It doesn't need to be PNG; it's just that the white around it obscures and makes it look weird on a map so I want to turn that into transparency and PNG and GIF are the only common formats to allow this. I suppose I could play around with the Python Image Library but I figured someone with a better image editor could have a whack at it first.

Problem is, it kinda blends in and is hard to see on the map.

Or... How about this - a LEAF in each of the five colors, each with a choice of six different backgrounds: blue, cyan, green, red, violet, and yellow.

Nice work JohnR! But I think if we're going to go that far with this, we may as well replicate the Magenta pin as well; having 7 pin colors and 5 rows of car colors (Blue, Red, Silver, Black White because then it's default, dark, light, dark, light) in the "My icons" section of the avatar setting would look really professional. The would, AFAICT, have to be added in order though, so Blue-rat, Red-rat, Green-rat, Cyan-rat, Yellow-rat, Violet-rat, Magenta-rat, (next row) Blue-nah, Red-nah, etc. I would just assume mess with Gudy's pin as he was first Blue (pwned) to build up the "My icons" and then I can change the instructions to help people select the right pin.

New guy here. I just learned of this forum today.

I Reserved my Glacier Pearl SV model on April 25, 2010 - 612239F1. I'm really jealous :mrgreen: of all the folks that are able to order their LEAF now. Currently I live in NH and we are in the last batch to be able to order the LEAF in December 2011. I added my pin to the map today.

We may be moving to GA soon, where the schedule says they are able to order now (since December 2010). The house is for sale, just need a buyer. Anyone interested in a nice dormered cape in southwestern NH?
