This forum is awesome!!! I've been lurking for about a week and finally joined and finally leased a Leaf sl!! I gotta say I'm loving my leaf more and more everyday! I never considered buying/leasing an EV... I'm coming from a 2012 Nissan 370z and I can honestly say I like driving the leaf more than the Z! The Z was fun and FAST but I only had it for a year before a guy ran a red light and totaled it. I test drove a leaf just out of curiosity and was blown away by how peppy it was and all the neat little features. I took a day to think about it and the next day leased a Pearl White 2013 Leaf sl! Just wanted to say thanks to all the helpful info on here about leasing vs buying and what to expect when driving an EV.

Welcome to the forum! You don't say where in SoCal you are, but if your Saturday schedule is accommodating, you might consider tomorrow's breakfast as a first opportunity to tap into the local knowledge and enthusiasm base and eat enough to last the rest of the weekend. :D http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=9695" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you're near the "real" southern California, let me invite you to our little BBQ on Saturday eve in San Diego:

In case it's not obvious, Saturday morning's breakfast meetup is at Home Town Buffet on 17th St in Santa Ana beginning around 8 am or a bit later. We're usually there until at least 10:30.

Very informal, friendly welcoming folks with (too) much knowledge and happy to answer your questions, pass on tips and help you to understand range capabilities of the car.

We meet once a month in Cerritos and once a month in Santa Ana.

We'd be happy to welcome you.

I always use the phrase 'lively' when describing it. But 'peppy' is good too. Welcome to Team EV, enjoy the grin.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcoming and all the invites :D I can already tell this is a great community to be apart of!! I'm located in the Burbank/Glendale area... I call it "Glenbank" since one street over is Burbank and one over is Glendale. I don't think I'll be able to make it this time to the breakfast club or the BBQ. If things change I might be able to swing by for a bit tomorrow for breakfast!

Today I had my first experience using a DC charger over at Glendale Nissan which was AWESOME!! I did get a lot of sideways looks as I have Duarte Nissan paper plates on my car... I have been considering signing up for Blink but not sure if its worth it. So far I've been ok just trickle charging at home. Blink seems to have chargers everywhere I go which is nice but no DC chargers.

Since you live in "Glenbank" you may want to have the following subscriptions:

Blink: most of their chargers in the Burbank/Glendale/Pasadena area are concentrated in downtown Glendale, with one in the City Hall parking garage, and the rest at the Americana at Brand.

ChargePoint: Burbank Water and Power has several of these in their city, including some at the parking garages off Orange Grove between First and Third streets, a couple just outside Sport Chalet, and a couple more at the Vons on Pass Ave.

Metro: these will allow you to use the charging stations at a few of their lots. The closest ones to you are at Union Station, Universal City, and Pasadena/Sierra Madre Villa. http://www.metro.net/projects/ev/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Blink has a DC charger in downtown Azusa if you're ever out that way.

Thanks for the charge station tips! For some reason I thought the ones near me were Blink chargers but they are indeed ChargePoint. Definitely going to look into signing up with ChargePoint. As of right now I've faired pretty well trickle charging at home.
