Best way to deal with this is to mention the tax credits/rebates and appeal to their greed.. after its your money that you are getting back.

For kicks I decided to plug my electric mower into a Kill-O-Watt meter at the wall outlet to see how much power it took to mow my 1/3 acre lot. Total power was right at 400 Wh, which translates into $0.04 in my neck of the woods. I have not met a person yet that wasn't amazed at the fact that my yard is mowed for under a nickel (and a lot of sweat)
