EV system warning light. What may have cause it?

Years later, your reply just saved me a lot of stress. Happened first time this morning on our 2011, and indeed there had been a power glitch while it was plugged in a few days earlier. Plugged it in again, no more light. Thanks!

    Hawaii Leafs

Heads up to Leaf owners w/ subscriptions to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. The paper has an online poll regarding EV parking incentives. As of this afternoon, EV resentment seems to be carrying the vote, but there's still time...

Any other 6 year owners out there?

6 years in April, 14K miles, all powered by the sun. Was among the first dozen or so in HI. Just replaced the main battery (original was down only 2 bars, but I began to wonder about future availability of the 24s.) Still quite happy with it -- and now that the kids are off to college, we don't...

    Adapter 24kwh to 30kwh

Couldn't find any reference to retrofits on the Nissan link you posted. Is this the 2CH forum link you're referring to? http://karma.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/auto/1481651086/ If so, it seems pretty speculative unless I'm misreading something.

When will Nissan provide battery upgrade program?

Agree that seems to be Nissan's approach, but I'd argue that cars aren't quite as disposable as tablets. Most desktop computers, for example, can take RAM and other upgrades. Nissan should do the same for the Leaf. I'd cheerfully drop a large chunk of change on a battery upgrade, but if getting...

    30kwh installed in a 2011 car?

Let's hope the delay is due to production capacity rather than a desire to steer their early adopters into buying new cars. Because if they don't facilitate an upgrade path for my 2011, any new car I buy definitely won't be a Nissan. Fool me once, etc.

    Official BMW i3 thread

Had a chance to try out an i3 during a recent stopover in San Francisco. BMW's DriveNow car-sharing service has added them to the fleet fairly recently, replacing the older ActiveE. Not bad overall, but with some odd quirks that left me missing our 2011 Leaf. Throttle response was strong on the...

    Hawaii Free Parking

As of 8/27/13, the 24-hour rule has been challenged and overturned: http://bit.ly/16ZUVe5 '...Honolulu resident Dale Podoll challenged the new charge on grounds that it conflicted with the law exempting vehicles with “EV” license plates from paying parking fees. After consulting with the state...

    Nissan ZEOD

Nissan has taken the wraps off the bigger, faster brother to the Leaf RC. Not for sale, but aiming to race next year at Le Mans: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/06/nissan-zeod-rc/

How the rear wiper blade is held on

Thanks for this! Saved me a trip back to the dealer (!) who reinstalled it incorrectly after a service/wash. .

Suggest Cities to See Relative Battery Aging Factor

Just came across this thread. Can't speak for others here (we see quite a few on the road, and I'm told Hawaii has the highest per-capita ownership in the U.S.) but we have no significant complaints. We got our Leaf in April 2011, a bit over 4,800 miles so far in and around Honolulu. Only...

How Green Are Electric Cars? Depends on Where You Plug In

Like a lot of similar assessments, the article neglects to mention the emissions needed to refine and transport the gasoline used by ICE cars. If they're going to measure upstream emissions, they should do so for both types of vehicle, or the comparisons are invalid. Can't tell yet if this is a...

    Hawaii Leafs

State data says there were 357 registered electric passenger vehicles in Hawaii as of July, up from 339 in June and 166 in July of 2010. That's compared to 8,264 passenger diesels, 10,085 passenger hybrids and 949,989 passenger gasoline vehicles in July 2011. ( http://1.usa.gov/q0BJU5 ) We may...

Anybody Using the Android Nissan LEAF App?

Surprised Nissan didn't put out a notice on this. If not for this forum, I wouldn't have known about it. Seems to work pretty well on HTC MyTouch 4G Slide, though it doesn't rotate horizontally when the slider keyboard is extended. Glad to see it's finally out though.

    Hawaii Leafs

Got an email today from the state DCCA that our Leaf rebate check just came in. Also said that checks for "quite a few approved applicants" that also had been delayed are now expected "very soon." :D

CA DMV Certificate of Title - What is the correct FUEL type?

Be careful. Might fail the smog check because they can't find the tailpipe, and assume it must be illegally concealed.... ;) .

Hawaii EV plates - not automatic

Hawaii Leaf owners, when your dealer calls to tell you your plates have come in, ask them to verify that the plates say 'EV' on them. Not all dealer staffers are aware that they need to make special arrangements on the DMV paperwork for this. (EV plates are required under state law for parking...

    Hawaii Free Parking

I'd actually be interested in hearing the details. Have they put their justification in writing/email? I'm not an attorney, but on the face it seems like it could be worth forcing a legal test -- especially since they apparently do allow free parking on SOME parts of campus.

    Battery cost replacement?

Just used Nissan's delivery-followup survey to seed them with this idea: 'Even though it's a long way off, Nissan should consider some sort of program to upgrade the battery pack as new technology becomes available that increases range. In several years, many Leaf owners would happily pay...
