    Cold weather regen braking

VIN 000659 here. Our Leaf became worthless by 2018 at which point we switched to Tesla model S .... am SOO very very thankful Nissan jack the price up from $5,000 to $8,000 for their junkie replacement battery because had they not - we would have purchased the replacement and the disgust would...

Possible Widespread 2018-19 Traction Battery Quick Charge Problems

oh boy - sorry, but "very sure" doesn't really make it so. Far from it. We've been out on the road during 38°C temps - and when we stopped, the fans were blazing. you can hear them humming along loudly in this very short video - how loud they sound, even prior to the 1st couple minutes of...

2018 LEAF Vs Tesla Model 3 SR: A Comparison Table for the USA

my better half wanted to replace her 10yr old Hybrid Lexus SUV, but cars fell off the back burner when she got cancer. I promised her a tesla when she survived chemo. So sure enough - she passed her cancer free years & bam. Model S. 4 weeks after picking up the S she sez, "i'm soo sory...

2018 LEAF Vs Tesla Model 3 SR: A Comparison Table for the USA

well the shrinks point out the different stages in our thinking that allows for a mental paradigm shift in our thinking. When confronted with facts that fly in the face of our thinking we (in typical order) ; Deny Enrage Lash back Face depression with the truth Then we finally accept It doesn't...

2018 LEAF Vs Tesla Model 3 SR: A Comparison Table for the USA

Advantages? does the wait for a new Model 3 adequately offset the Leaf's notorious capacity loss? Leaf proves one thing - the more modules you tightly pack together (20kW, 30kW, 40kW) the faster the pack cooks, & thus, the faster range decreases...

Possible Widespread 2018-19 Traction Battery Quick Charge Problems

That's very magnanimous, to simply accept the fact that Corporate Nissan continually churns out traction packs with the resiliency of a POS. Thats great if owners really don't mind an ever larger pack that's ever more prone to loose capacity as fast, or even faster than the 30's - or our...

Lost my 3rd bar today - 16,972 miles - my thoughts

as another early adopter (march 2011) i can't believe anyone could loose 3 bars at only 16k miles - especially around the SD area. Yuma? Yes. The record high mileage for 3 bars lost was over 70k miles. We lost our 3rd around 63K miles & now have over 75k miles. Supposedly the lost bars...

JDapter - Tesla charging for your EV

The comment raises TWO thoughts; #1 People who never bothered to LOOK for a thing (whether it be a Tesla destination charger, or a Ford dealership, or a pet shop selling reptiles etc) - then comment, "well, if you ask MEEE .... I never even saw one of those ANY where). ok whatever. But the...

Price to retrofit a used 2011-2015 Leaf with a new 30 kWh (or higher) battery?

imo - the comedy of errors (beyond telling Leaf owners air cool is great, cuz your body is air cooled) is the difference in Nissan Leaf having NO chance for a bigger battery, & tesla still supporting the MUCH more limited Roadster - offering an upgrade from ~200 mile to ~400 mile. Sad, but...

Install Double Batteries on Nissan LEAF Increasing Range to 160 Miles?

If you buy a new car (Say you pay at least $24,000) you'll be paying over $2,000 just in sales tax alone. Throw in delivery/prep & there's a few hundred more. Count that cost down off the new pack/installation. ;) .

When will 2017 LEAF arrive in Colorado?

.... and why is the 200 mile Bolt refered to as "as bad as it sounds" in your opinion? Doesn't the Bolt ... thousands of dollars less expensive, have active cooling whereas the Leaf doesn't? .

    Lizard Pack Holding Up

well heck then, I ought to go take our early 2011 in - down just 2 bars @ 60K miles ... someone must have forgotten to to tell us to get in line for the new battery! Woo hoo !! ;) .

2016 Leaf still has outdated tech .....

hmm you didn't know that going into your purchase? Our VIN ends with 000659 & yet we were made aware. At 60k miles / down 2 bars, an average daily trip of 19 miles one way, 10 EVSE's at work - yes, we counted on 10 years, & we're on schedule. If you want the latest & greatest updates, one...

Will ANY 2011/2012 LEAFs still have 80% capacity at 5 years?

we just got back from the central CA valley. it was 100+ degrees near the supercharger station we stopped close to. I was in awe, listening to the refrigerating fans/coolant running hard core, to insure the Tesla packs stayed nice & cozy/comfortable while charging. I was feeling very "active...

Will ANY 2011/2012 LEAFs still have 80% capacity at 5 years?

With LEAF VIN ###000659 (south OC), I have avoided the update that seemed to preserve GOM bars going away. What's weird is that Andy says degradation is nonlinear. Our first bar bar disappeared at 40,000 miles. The second bar went away just last week at just 51,000 miles. That means andy is...

    CHAdeMO-to-Tesla adapter?

Ya never know ... the lame companies that weren't wise enough to promote their plugin's - and thus have to pay a ton of dough to TESLA for their ZEV/carb credits ... maybe TESLA will use that money to build maintain their network. I'd LOVE to know how much they rake in on that. .

Curious why you bought your leaf?

    Sunroof!! Finally!

The Camry hybrid option (which - if you're SO wants lighted vanity mirrors, you have to get anyway) sunroof is $1,500 . . . so it's pretty much what you'd pay at the dealer as a stock option. Pricey? not if it's what you want, apparently.

Curious why you bought your leaf?

Same here . . . but also because I can fuel it for free, right from our fully amortized - smog free, roof-top PV. If I were able to build a refinery in our back yard, that wouldn't be the case. .
