    Door Lock Button Illumination

When the lease runs out on our current Leaf, we will not get another unless Nissan has corrected this stupid “unfeature”.

    The Phone Menu...(Ahem!)

Ditto for me. It is a real pain. Even worse when you have two phones registered.

    BEV cargo ships discussion

The referenced article contains not one word about how the batteries will be recharged, how long it will take, and what fuel source is used to generate the electric power for charging. If the loading and off-loading of the containers is as fast as on current container ships, recharging may be...

How do you bungy the hatch closed when carrying long objects.

I tried the "poke it out the front window" trick once. The officer who pulled me over recommended that I try jousting at the Renaissance Faire instead of on the highway.

    Now to get into neutral

Some of you may be old enough to remember the "Tunnel of Love" at the local amusement park. The drive-through car-wash is simply the 21st Century hybridized version. NOTE: Do not EVER take a Yorkshire Terrier with you through the car-wash unless you have a high-end set of noise-cancelling...

    automatic windshield wiper??

First, the technology this one uses is far superior to the moisture-sensing that requires a device be attached the the outside of the car. Second, I am not the best auto mechanic around, having abandoned the idea of DIY car repair and mods several decades ago. However, a quick read through the...

Tow hook for 2016 30kWH Leaf

Just traded in our leased '14 S for a '17 S with 30kwh pack. The new Leaf did not come with a tow hook. At the salesman's polite insistence, I snagged the tow hook and safety kit from the '14 while I was removing all our personal junk. The safety kit was a dealer incentive for the '14.

    Pre-Heating without Timer

Been reading all these posts and wondering why I can't seem to get a '14 Leaf S to pre-heat. Being retired, it makes no sense to use the timer, plus, the '14 S has no "timer override switch". I have tried every configuration described in the previous posts, but no heat, not even after waiting...

How robust is the cargo organizer ?

The Leaf cargo organizer is an overpriced piece of junk. It also fits one way and only one way, so no chance for re-arranging to suit other stuff you might need to carry. Any recommendation from this forum is a better idea. I use one of those "milk crates" from Target or such. About $5.

Every 15k miles my dealer wants to charge me $300 for 'maintance' what should I do?

We bought our 2014 Leaf from an Eastern Washington dealer. No problems with the first 12 months of service, all free. Then we moved to western Washington. Found a new dealer with good recommendations. Called for 18-month check: delaer said not needed. Went in again for 24-month check, only paid...

Where are the used 2014's Nissan Leafs?

If you find a lot of 2-year-old cars available for sale, you should assume that they are unwanted for reasons that would lead most people to shy away from them. For those of us with good, solid, well-running Leafs, we plan to keep them until the battery gets dodgy or the lease expires, or maybe...

    Survey on EVs

This survey is aimed at non-EV owners. As an EV driver, I found most of the questions impossible to answer and abandoned the survey.

    Kickplate for rear doors?

I use heavy-duty clear plastic tape to protect the top tube on my bike, It's from a 1-1/2" wide roll, but I've seen widths up to 3 inches. When it get too scuffed, just peel off and replace. Should work for cars. However, knowing kids, they could destroy even duct tape in a few seconds.

Why no status avail for EV stations

My experience with NRG/EVGo in Washington makes me believe that they are seldom used because they are so unreliable. Most EV owners will opt for a different brand if available. I no longer bother with any NRG stations. Even Blink treats me better.

    Nissan Leaf blueprints

Cars don't have "blueprints", buildings do. Most of the construction and fabrication is controlled digitally, so there is virtually no instance where someone is looking over a drawing to figure out what to do next.

Is anyone abandoning the Leaf due to gas price dropping?

Our Leaf saves us even more when we use it instead of the '11 Quest. We shop most often at Fred Meyer, which gives gas credits for store purchases. Since we only use the van for infrequent long-distance trips, the credits add up. We just returned from a 500-mile trip and paid $0.40 and $0.20 per...

Iphone holder without damage (2016 SL)

I've had good luck with the Bracketron Vent Mount (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/bracketron-earth-elements-universal-vent-mount-black/7502155.p?id=1219276502656&skuId=7502155). I have one in both a '14 Leaf and '11 Quest. No suction cup, no adhesive, no Velcro. Most of the negative comments come...

USB plug not charging the cell phone?

I can charge my iPhone 5 in our 2014 Leaf S just fine. However, I use the lighter plug anyway because the damn Leaf radio takes control of the phone every time it's plugged in to the USB and tries to run my phone's playlist when I really just want the local FM station. Lighter plug solves two...

    Newbee Question; re chargers

I have installed my 2nd Schneider EVLink EV230WS charging station in a new home. I did not hesitate buying the same equipment after the move since the original worked flawlessly for the 15 months that we were in the previous home. Ditto on getting it from Home Depot. I managed to hit their sale...

Rats May Be a Threat to BEV and PHEV

Biggest problem with our LEAF is rug-rats. The little twerps leave crumbs, candy wrappers, toy parts, and clothing articles every time they are allowed to infiltrate the back seat. It remains a problem with the younger specimen; the older of this particularly troublesome species has progressed...
