Bay Area <--> LA EV trip feasible???

I live in Gilroy but will be taking a summer job for two months at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I had originally planned on simply flying there (and likely still will), but when I found out that there are a multitude of L2 chargers on the LMU campus there, I started fantasizing...

    Sunnyvale QC

I'm going to attempt my first "beyond battery range" trip in my Leaf: from my home in Gilroy to a work conference in San Mateo. You're probably thinking "that's only 65 miles", but keep in mind that's 65 miles of highway driving going 65+mph with significant portions hilly, not to mention on a...

Any EVSE near Mineta San Jose Airport?

I seem to recall some time ago, there was some discussion regarding EVSE at the San Jose airport. What is the current status of the feasibility of charging a Leaf at the airport (in my particular case, just for short-term hourly parking while I pick someone up)? I'm pretty sure there's no QC...

    Sunroof!! Finally!

fwiw, I received a quote of $1399 (includes installation and tax, provided payment is in cash) from my nearest Webasto dealer (Coach Automotive Restyling in Union City, 50mi from me in Gilroy). The one odd thing is that they would not install a model 930 because they said that was on...

    Maybe we need electric cows!

that's true in theory, I suppose; but in practice, a moot point for those that don't eat cows. from the information i've seen, the all around best "livestock" to raise for human consumption would be insects, although for some reason most americans find the concept repellent.

Leaf to go gas / electric?

actually, I always wondered that myself! I just assumed that the answer was that until the vast majority of street transport was powered by electricity, it simply isn't cost effective to build wireless charging into the roads. Also, there might be some social resistance in the usa from people...

How much do you pay for insurance for your LEAF?

I'm a 45yr old male with a pretty safe driving record (no speeding tickets, parking tickets, or accidents in the last 10+ years) living near the bay area of California and driving ~12000mi/yr. My policy ($2500 deductible covering collision and liability etc) is through Geico, and costs $343 per...

San Francisco Bay Area Quick Chargers Getting them sooner

seems odd to want a QC near your daily commute, unless your typical work period is half an hour...? but honestly, at this point, i'd take a QC nearly *anywhere* 20-60mi from my home!

Gilroy Outlets = two L2 ChargePro EVSE

mxp brought to my attention that there might be some EVSE installed at the Gilroy Outlets; I live nearby and swung by after work to take a look and sure enough, there they were (I'd swear they weren't there when I was there last month!) They are on the side of the Sony outlet (bright blue...

'Fringe' - now sponsored by Nissan LEAF

Price of gas in the Fringe alternate universe: s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsdf7vsnkY1qanmtro1_1280.png perhaps the popularity of EVs there have driven down demand :-)

'Fringe' - now sponsored by Nissan LEAF

I'll bet in a upcoming episode we see Olivia plugging in the Leaf and Peter will casually mutter "so convenient just to be able to charge at home like this" as she replies "and so cheap compared to gas too", lol
